"So, I said I would think about it, phoned cancellations/retention five minutes later and said I was leaving as I didn't want to have to start paying more line rental for the same service and wasn't happy with the phones offered and I'm now getting a contract of 500 anytime cross-net minutes and 900 texts for £20 and a free Nokia 6233 to boot. I din't even push for that - I would have been happy staying with the current contract and just getting a new phone!"

As i said before, my contract runs out on oct 10th and from a £30 a month 400 mins anytime/100 texts to this new contract sounds perfect. is it just a case of ringing and sayimg - this is what my mate has recently got, i'll have the same please!
  • My contract was up yesterday - online 400 with 1000 txts for 45 quid. They offered me it for 12 months for 30 per month. I wanted to upgrade to the K800i but they wanted 119.99 for that so said I would think about it. Went straight through to Retentions today and they wouldnt offer me anything better. Again said I would see what I can get - is it time to look elsewhere or is this actually a good deal. I've got a W800i at the mo which I could flog I suppose

Sneaker - if you spend £25 a month, then the cheapest you are going to get the K800i for is £79.99. Now that's the bottom line.
We can get you a better tariff etc, but the handset is that price. Regardless.
Again, that 6 months free line rental is from a Dealership or 3rd party company via cashback. It's is out of their own pocket that they give you the 6 months free line rental.
    But bear this in mind.

The handset is worth £250 - and despite popular belief, we DO pay that much for them despite being bought in bulk - the manufacturers KNOW that they are high demand and can charge WHATEVER they want for them. It is only when the handsets lose desireability that they drop their prices so we can shift them for them!!!
So if the K800i is £250, and you are spending £30 for 6 months, then that's £180 the network gets off you.
We are a 'for profit' organisation. Im afraid there comes a point when customers ask for too much!

Thanks. I wasn't even offered the phone let alone at that price. So if I was to pay £79.99 for it (if I'm offered it) then what is the best tariff I can expect? Ideally i'd like to lower the monthly spend.

I just rang retentions as my contract is about up and got offered 500x-net mins and 200txts for £20/mo with a Samsung Z400 free. Could i have done better ?
  • Hi O2Employee

Your help would be appreciated on this.

My upgrade was due around July/August time but have been waiting for the new Sony ericsson w950i to come out... and still waiting.

My bills and currently between £45 - £100+ at the moment as i seem to be on an old plan where call's to other networks are costing me 40p a minute

I want my bills to drop dramatically to around £35 or less, what's the best deal i'm likely to be offered. My contract was brought through a phones4u shop so not sure if they are best to speak to ?

    Many thanks

Your spend is what you actually spend. So if your tariff should be £30, then its the £15 that we class.
I think we have started making attempts to save under £20 spenders again.
But this is what I have always said, getting these uber cheap deals sometimes shoots you in the foot as it leaves you in a worse off position that you were to start with.
To answer the question as to whether or not you will continue to get the £15 off after the 12 months, it has to be requested.
It's very simple for us to do.
Our money off actions only have 12 month durations on them, so they will need readding. Simple really.

Saverram - 400 minutes and 500 texts for £15 is impossible. It's not something we offer.
Like I've said, we don't have an unlimited range of offers, we can only amend existing tariffs to within set parimeters....
    BUT
I was talking about the Online Tariff Refresh... I saw the details today!!
    EG...
1000minutes and 1000 texts for £50 with FOC CALLS ON A SAT SUN MON on an 18 month contract.
600 mins and 1000 texts and Long weekends for £35 on 18 months!!
    Thats good really!!!
They arent published online yet but are available on upgrade for Online Customers.
UK Customers, im afraid these arent on offer to you. They will either try and come close, or let you move to Online to get it!
Do you know when the new online tariff comes in?
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
  • Hi There

I've sent an e-mail to the CEO of O2 today after some terrible customer service and being told so many different stories by different operators. I wondered, in everyone else's experience, how long does it take him/his representatives to reply to an e-mail? I wonder if I should also put it in writing? What would you all do?
  • Wondering if you guys can give me a bit of advice.
My contract is at an end with CPW who I have been with for a number of years and looking to going to O2. My current bill is around £35 per month.
i am currently only getting 250 mins and 100 texts.
I would like more minutes, say 500 but 100 texts is fine.
I have a Nokia 8800 and woudl like another Nokia as I know how to work them. I looked at the N91 but looks a bit bulky, any suggestions.
Can you also please tell me the phone number to ring, I have been on the website but am confused.
My brain is frazzled, things have been that hectic at work lately, i have not had time to look round for the best deals.
Any ideas I will appreciate as I want to get a new contract asap.
    Thanks
    Jules

  • How much for ALIXXON? Hope you don't mind me asking. I feel like banging my head against a brick wall when I'm talking to O2. I wouldn't mind, but i'm not even asking for as much as some of you have been offered. My problem with them is they keep on telling me different information! arghhhhh
