O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750
Comments

Hi,
O2 just called me today and said as my contract is up in under 2 months (the expiry date is October 28th). He said that he wished to offer me a free upgrade. It was one of the nokia's, I can't remember for sure. I said I'd think about it.
I had already looked on these forums, so knew I can get much better if I threaten to cancel.
How exactly and when exactly should I go about this? I was interested in getting the discount 500 tariff and the SE K750i. I am currently on the O2 online 100 tariff with the SE K700i.
Should I still send an e-mail giving notice that I wish to cancel since I need to give 30 days notice (although I have no intention of actually cancelling unless the deal they give me is worse than what I have just now)? If so, when should I do this?
Basically I would like to know what steps I should take and when.
Thanks.

Hi Graham!!
You've come to the right place for advice!! Your also right that you can get a better deal by saying that you considering leaving the O2 network.
So that I can help you further can you tell me if your an online or offline customer with O2, that means do you get your bills online or posted through your door?
I also need to know if you get your bills through the door, did you get your phone from an O2 shop?0 -
Hey,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm an online customer. I'm on the O2 Online 100 tariff.
Thanks,

Graham,
Sorry i missed that bit of your post saying that your on the online 100 tariff..doh!!
Ok, here's what to do. Phone the Retentions Team on 0870 600 7102 saying that your considering leaving the O2 network to go to 3 as there offering you a good deal.
The advisor at O2 should ask what the deal is.. Tell him/her that it is 500 X Network Anytime Any Network Mins and 500 Texts Per month for £15 per month.
The advisor should then offer you the Discount 500 tariff with some inclusive texts usually anything from 100-500 texts. If your a high value customer and been with the O2 network for a good few years they normally bend over backwards to keep your business and will pull out all the stops and give you 500 Mins 500 Texts £10 line rental reduction for 12 months and the SE phone for free.
Let us know how you get on or ask me any questions you have0 -
Hey,
Thanks very much. When should I call them?

You could give them a call just now and see what they say0

Hi,
I just called. I spoke to a guy called Paul. He said they do offer a very similar deal and should be able to do something for me. But he said they can't do a deal until a month before my contract runs out. So he said to call back on the 28th of this month and sort it out then.
Thanks,

Do they give offers if you have PAYG phone and want to get a monthly contract ? To keep the same number you still have to ask for a PAC number. Just wondering.....................especially if you have been a customer for over 9 years...............?0
