O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

  • I have been with O2 for three years now, my last contract, which was £15 for 500 minutes and 400 texts went up to £25 a month and O2 took off my free 400 text allowance when the 12months was up, without informing me.

Has anyone else had this problem with O2?

I do not think it is good service that they increase my bill by £10 and take off my 400 free texts without informing me. I now have a bill of around £50 instead of £15 and did not realise until it was too late.

When i try and change the contract, back to how it was they will not allow it.

Any ideas what i can do / say to try and make them give me a better deal?

when you upgraded last year, your monthly discount was £10 for 12 months with 400 free texts again for 12 months.

Because they told you then they do not have to inform you when the discount/texts are removed. You should have upgraded in your 11th month and tried to keep on the same deal.

Call them up and ask to go back onto your tarriff last year because "you have been offered a similar deal from 3" and see what phones they can offer you

Right well I think I have got it sorted, I have had to go into my local O2 store and they are letting me have a free W550i but I am not allowed it till friday because I am 4 days out from my free upgrade, unless I want the W300, then I could have had that today.

They are letting me have the online 200 which is 300mins/750texts for £15.

I think they are struggling to sell the W300 because they were practically forcing it onto me, each time I phoned up and about 4 times in store, no matter how much I told them it was an ugly phone, they just kept going on about how fab and new it was and why would I want an old phone when this ones all nice and new. "Because its ugly you idiot!!"

  • I've just called O2 Retention to upgrade my contract.

    400 x-net min + 500 txts for £15 per month.
    18 months contract
    £100 credit re-sign offer

Couldn't get anything better than that, unless I want to take 250 x-net min+ 100 txts for the same price or £25 for 500 x-net min + 500 txts, that will be a 12 months contract.

I just took the first one.I guess I could always get a new handset by signing a cash-back offer later on..

    Hi everyone

I've just been on to o2 to upgrade, got passed from pillar to post by some idiot in upgrades so I decided I would give up with o2 and try 3 as they have some good offers on at the moment.

Called to give notice to cancel my contract (idiot in upgrades refused to transfer me, even though I know they can as it's been done in the past) spoke to a very nice bloke called Mark and after I told him I wanted out we managed to haggle a deal of

    750 x-net mins
    750 texts
A samsung z400 handset. (not the phone I really wanted but they wanted £49.99 for that and I don't have that money at the moment)

£20 a month on a 18 month contract. Same deal would have been £35 a month on a 12 month, so I took the 18.

This phone is going to save me a fortune on my land line calls. 2 of my sisters and my ex husband (so the kids can talk to him) only have mobiles so it costs me a fortune to call them and on my old contract I only had 50 mins so couldn't use that.

Has anyone else got the Z400, is it any good. I've got 14 days to send it back if I don't like it.

Just an idea, not sure if it works. If you are a talker, you may be able to get 1000 mins & 100 texts instead of 750 mins & 750 texts for the same price.

I tend to use around 200 texts a month (teenage daugher that doesn't answer her phone when she's out lol) so 100 wouldn't cover me. Thanks for the tip though :)
  • just got 500 mins and 500 txts for £20 a month with a sony ericsson w810i, on a 12 month contract :)

they tried to get me to have the 18 month one with 750 mins and 750 txts, but wanted the 12 months

that was for the sons phone, just gotta do both mine and the missus next week

Did you have to pay any extra for the phone? That was the handset I wanted but the minimum they would let me have it for was £49.99
  • yeah it was 49.99, but will get that back by selling his old motorola v3

quoted me 79.99 for the k800i, and free for the new w300i
