O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

After some negotiation with retention that failed, I gave O2 30 days notice in writing to disconnect after my 12 months contracts ends in september. Then today a nice lady from upgrade called to give me an offer to stay. £10 per month, 500 mins x-network + 400 texts. I can have a new phone ot £100 credit. I accepted the offer and chose the credit, which I only need to pay £20 for the whole year.
It is the best offer I have seen. Is it too good to be true? I hope there is no catch, but I am happy at the moment.0 -
Wow, that's a great deal....Perhaps you could get her name, extension numer and the department she works for (i.e cancellations, based in london)??? It would be really helpful, as I'm trying to renegotiate my contract at the moment and I'm having some trouble! Please PM these to me, I would be very grateful!
Also what was your average monthly spend before this offer??
Thanks0 -
Sorry, I don't know what dept that was. They wouldn't send me an email to confirm the offer either. But when I called later to CS to check to make sure, I was transferred to 'upgrade' dept (15 mins in the queue), it was confirmed. And when I checked online my bill, I noticed that £100 has already been credited.
My average monthly spend never goes over my 200 mins (£30/month) allowance.0 -

I have been on that deal for the last 12 months so there won't be a catch for you. I have recently managed to confirm with o2 that i will be on this tarriff for another 12 months, so hopefully you will be able to stay on it when you upgrade again in 12 months time0 -
After going through all the pages to get info on what I could get,
Thought I would report back.
Have been with o2 for 3yrs.
Was on the online 400 - 400 x-net Rollover min with 1000 txts for £30pm 12month contract
I also got caught out as my 12month contract ended in April my £30pm bills were suddenly now £45pm!!but there was no phones out worth upgrading for. I was desperately waiting for the Nokia N73.
1st phone call they offered:
18Month Contract: 750 x-net + 750 txt = £28 (Nokia N73 = £100)
12Month Contract: 500 x-net + 500 txt = £25 (Nokia N73 = £100)
2nd phone call call they offered the same and I even threw in that 3 were offing the N73 for free! but still only offer the same!
Both times I said please note these down on my account as I may come back to you - They said we will!
3rd call
I said "Your not offering me what I was and other companies are so I might as well take my PAC code and leave"
The lady said, "lets see what we can do"
She said nothing was in my notes and then straight away offers:
12 month Contract: 500 x-net RO min + 500 txt = £20 :T (Nokia N73 still = £100)
The £60 saving was good enough for me to justify getting the £100 phone! Also try sell my old 6630 for £50 odd!
I was tempted to wait to see if the N73 went down but then i'd be paying £25 extra on this months bill.
That's me sorted for another 12months i guess...see you all next year for more o2 shenanigans!
Let me know if anyone else gets better in the next 14 days...I might be able to negotiate!0 -
Can you try the O2 retentions number if your on O2 PAYG, as i've been a customer for just over 2yrs now and have spent quite alot on monthly top-ups ???0

Prepay have their own retentions team.... just call prepay customer service. If you want to stay and prepay but try for a better deal say you want a PAC code to go to another network and see what they offer, if you are talking about going onto a contract with o2 tell them that and see what they offer. You could get a bill credit or something if you have been topping up a lot.
What's 'quite a lot' on monthly top ups? If you haven't got a new phone in that time either, enquire about an upgrade. If you spend is 'quite a lot' and you haven't had an upgrade from o2 in the last 9 months, you should get some kind of discount (although that could be less than you'd like!)OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
