T-Mobile Retentions

I called to give notice on my contract on Sunday. Started well, lady asked if there was anything they could do to keep me, and asked what other plans I was looking at. I said 3's new mix'n'match tariffs, £15 a month for 300 mins or txts or any combo of the two - 3 are treating 1 min=1 txt on these. As my other ctt phone is on 3, the other benefit of this is the free 300 mins 3 to 3, so me and mrs GunJack can keep in touch easliy.
Hold on, says ms T-mobile rep, you can't have a tariff like that. a txt is 10p.
Yes, I said, on payg or over your allowance....on the 3 plan I could use 1 min and 299 txts, or 1 txt and 299 mins, that's the whole point of the m'n'm tariffs...
Ms T-mobile rep proceeded to rant (!! no, I'm not kidding !!) down the phone at me that those tariffs were "impossible" and "didn't, no, COULDN'T exist" !!!
Needless to say that I ended the call pretty d@mn quick and I won't go anywhere near T-mobile ever again, nor touch them with someone else's bargepole............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Made a new upgrade deal with T Mobile today.
SE K850i free (not updated on the website yet but they do have them)
Flext 30 - £22.50 - so a further £5 discount on top of the original discount given.
Free web n walk for 6 months.
Am quite happy with that as previously I was offered the SE W810i for £24.75 including Web n Walk.

wouldve liked 6months webwalk but still.
jay
re your question all i did was ask to cancel straight away once due upgrade as i said on other thread.
suggested an intent to move to orange deal at 25per month with discount plus bband, mentioning cutting overall costs.
I think you just have to be prepared to cancel. Last time i did, but the rang me a week later in my notice period. Just need to be ballsy i think.
did offer me the lowest flext pack first, pretty much laughed that out of town.0 -
Its like pulling teeth with T-mobile. The company use to be really good towards its customers, but now seems uninterested. I have a old tarrif:
free off peak evenings and weekends on local, national and x network, plus 75 text messages all this for £18.00 a month, great eh.
I have been with T-mobile since 121, i asked for a handset (accidently washed my last one on a delicate setting - ooooooooooops)
was told no by T mobile. telephoned several occassions, each time i asked for a phone. out of the blue was offered a Nokia for 29.99 (PAYG - £79.99) rang back to accept, told there had been a mistake, insisted, and got the phone.
its like pulling teethTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
went in to pick up my phone on sat when they had stock in.
t mobile then decided to increase the price of the monthly contract from 20 to 25. They also tried to charge me 100 plus for k850. Needless to say i wasnt happy.
Spoke to cust services and they werent having it, although luckily i did record the upgrade conversation and this proves the caller lied to me.
I am going to complain not that it will be of much use. In meantime looking around again.
Looks like orange after all for me now. Better contract with my broadband saving so maybe as well.0 -
Sorry to hear that!
I got the K850i direct from TM a few days ago. The phone was free and there was never a question of me having to pay for the handset - and I still got a further £5 discount on my already discounted rate. I also had W&W thrown in for free for 6 months.
Did you go straight thru to retentions??0 -
Cindhove
What approach did you take to get that deal- sounds really good!
Did you ring retentions staright away? Did you have to make out you wanted to leave?
Cheers0 -
I went straight through to retentions. Said that I wanted to leave and have my PAC as I could get a deal that I liked for £24 with 3 (true). They then made the offer to me. No haggling. I did get the £5 payment for shipping of the handset refunded as well.
Being polite and firm saying what you want seems to work for me anyway.
Good luck.0 -
i had pretty much the same experience except when it came to getting handset i got lumbered in the store. perhaps shouldve stuck online for whole thing too.
i havent been called by tmobile yet, although i am waiting till fri am to get new phone deal sorted. Suprised really as cindyhove's deal is nearly as good as i was offered, even if a bit more expensive / less mins it has 6 months webwalk.t mobile have still lost a 5year customer spending nearly 500 a year, its up to them.0 -
In mid Sept I called Tmobile to give 30 days notice as my contract was expiring in mid Oct. I didn't want to go through the hassle of finding a new deal (especially as Vodafone had rejected me on a great offer with a cashback company) so wanted to stay with Tmobile, but better my current discount at the time.
I was on Flex 35 for 18 months, with a discount of £12 per month, thus paying £23 per month. After explaining to the disconnections department that I didn't want to leave Tmobile as I'd been with it for nearly eight years but I could get a better deal elsewhere involving cashback, I was offered a £15 per month discount if I renewed my contract for 18 months then and there, plus I'd get a one-off £10 discount on my September bill.
I agreed, content at saving an extra £3 per month, now making my bill £20 per month, especially as I didn't need a new phone having bought a Nokia 8800 Sirrocco a few months ago.
The best part is, I obviously wasn't listening very well to the conversation as my October bill showed the £15 discount is on top of my £12 original discount, meaning I get Flex 35 (up to 900 cross, anytime minutes) for just £8 per month.
Well, needless to say I'm a a very happy bunny and doubt I'll ever be leaving Tmobile now!
