Warning to others they will no longer let you stay on old plans & upgrade, also you can't keep discount & upgrade as I have for the last 3 years & found out to my cost in November

My contract finished in November, and I got a discount. I was on Flext 20 for £15 a month. The website was showing £10 off my bill if I didn't want a new phone. I called them and cheekily asked if I took the £10 a month off would I still get the £5 go to direct discount too. They said yes, so I now get Flext 20 for £5 a month.
  • I negotiated £12 off any Flext plan instead of a phone upgrade. 18 months at £12 means you are paying £216 for the upgrade. So it is much better to have the money off and, if you want a new phone, get a pay-as-you-go deal and swap the SIM cards. I also got the second discount on the second renewal as mentioned above - so £24 off.
  • What phone do you want.

That is the downside of the 25% discount as it lowers the discount when it comes to upgrade.

Have read a few posts on here about T-Mobile being stingy so and so's. Just wondered what success people have had with an upgrade.

I'm on flext35 with a 25% discount so I don't want to lose that but I want a new phone. The ones they've offered aren't great and any phone I've liked they either want to increase the line rental or make me pay for a phone.

Anyone got a success story and I don't mean by getting the rental reduced more, I mean just with getting a good phone.

    I am walking to O2

I am currently on relax 35 - 500 mins, 100 txt. I also pay 12.50 for Web and Walk AND blackberry service. I roam quite a bit, so my bills have averaged £60 per month for the 12 months. Not huge, but substantial enough.

They offered me £5 off my line rental if I moved to flext 35 and would give me a free blackberry if I moved to an 18 month contract.

They currently offer new customers £5 off line rental on their website anyway, and even though they charge £40 for the phone that would be more than covered by a Quidco or the like.

so in short, they offered me the square root of nothing!

Going to move to o2, will get their unlimited data package and a windows smartphone methinks

I have just got off the phone to tmobile as I have two upgrades due both flext 35 one of which I pay 17.99 for the other no discount. They wanted me to accept 10 discount off the the one I only pay 17.99 for (do they think I am mad) and 5 off the other. Told them unless I keep the 17.99 and get more dicount on the other I will leave. They are calling back.

My contract expires early Feb. I rang to see what they would offer me.
I am currently on flext15 at £10 per month. I top up about £10 per month.

The phone I want is SE K850i, however, Tmobile tell me that they can offer 300 mins per month and 400 texts and an inferior phone for £20 per month.

They won't budge from that. It's the camera on the phone I'm after.

O2 have offered the phone I want and 200 mins + 400 texts for £20. In addition I get unlimited calls to other O2 users. Plus my partner can have a sim with 200mins/400texts for £15 per month no phone.

    I'm happy with that.

My contract runs out mid March so I have a few weeks before I can start negotiating. I have no idea which way it will go. Its the data that it is important to me though so I guess I will struggle.

I pay £25.49 at the moment which is flext 25 with unlimited data to use however I like (including laptop modem/voip etc). I get free voicemal and itemised bililng free too.

To be honest I would be happy with less calls and texts as I rarely use my allowance but I am not sure if that is possible. I need a new phone desperately as mine gave up the goat not long into the 18 month contract and I have been struggling for ages. I need something that I have good access to email and internet which restricts me a lot.

Is anyone or has anyone been in a similar position and where are you know?

T mobile are not as good as they used to be when it comes to upgrades, my son daughter and myself have all had to stuggle to get anywhere near anything decent off them. At one time I never had a problem now if you want a phone they are very reluctant to give you decent discount it does not matter how many times you say you will leave for another network.
  • I am just trawling the net to see whats available at the moment because I need a new phone and I need an unlimited data tarif - I dont need many minutes or texts and I am struggling.

    mobile cat....

I would usually suggest web n walk for £7.50 which is one of T-Mobile's better offerings however:

if you don't want to make many calls or texts then:

    Get a PAYG T-Mobile SIM.
Pay £2.50 a week for unlimited internet, using 5 day web n walk pass.

Once you been with T-Mobile for 3 months, you will be refunded 20% of your credit as long as you spend at least £50 in following 3 months.

If you plan to make many calls and texts... then get the cheapest flext tariff for £15 a month, and then web n walk unlimited for £7.50 a month on top. You get a phone and you can through quidco for free money. Good luck.
