  • Looks like my hopes of getting the yet to be released HTC TYTN II in November is doomed to failure then

I have two lines with T-Mobile, one which has just recently been connected, the other which is due for renewal in September.

The one due for renewal is on a U-Fix £15 per month tariff, so I guess I have no hope in hell of getting an N95 for free on that tariff :)

    terrible terrible......

    i'm on flext 30 - line rental £30

    got options of either:

    1. Sony k810i for £29.99 and line rental stays at £30
    2. Sony w810i free and line rental at £27
    3. No phone and line rental at £20

hung up then - but now about to call back to say - 30 day notice!
  • I think anyone who is currently on the 25% discount is highly unlikely to get the Nokia N95 without losing the discount. Four people I've dealt with now from T Mobile and they all say the same, no way way I can retain the discount and have the phone for free, not even £40, they want double figures for it.

I'd love to hear if anyone is successful!

I was offered the N95 for £50 and to keep the 25% discount that I currently have. That was on the 1st phone call, not retentions, so am sure they must be able to better that. However, as I want the G600 which they don't yet have I'll wait another couple of weeks and se what they offer with that handset. It wont be neart he N95 cost.

What's the number for retentions from a landline?

Also if you're out of contract, do you still have to give them 30 days notice?
  • Look in their Ts & Cs brochures here: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/our-brochures/

7(a) says it's 1 calendar month unless they've changed something in your service.

Retentions deals, by the way, are based on how much money you have been spending with them over the past year. Doesn't matter what tariff you renew onto, it's the last year's spend that counts. I was told this and the proof is in the deal that I got - I am paying next-to-nothing for my line rental now but I got a cheap N95 when renewing.

  • My T-Mobile contract comes to an end on 14th October 2007, which means, as of 14th September, I am entitled to an upgrade. I am currently on their Everyone 500/Off-peak tariff at £20.00/month.

I phoned them up yesterday to ask whether I could stay on the same tariff and have the SE K810i for free. No matter how hard I tried (even threatening to end the contract), the CSA insisted that I would have to pay £30.00 for the phone. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow. If they still refuse, are there any other similar tariffs with other networks who might give me a free phone (SE K810i, SE W880i, Nokia N95...)?

I was also considering getting one of those cashback/free gift gift offers, but having read about some of the terrifying experiences people have had with some of these cashback cowboys, I am definitely staying away from them! Although....i really would like a free wii/xbox360!
'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it....for much longer!'
  • Don't threaten. Just say you want to leave and ask for the PAC code - they will put you through to retentions who have the power to give you a better deal. The 810i is a relatively new phone so I wouldn't expect to get that free with your tariff, but they might offer you £10/month off in which case you're £180 up and can buy one on eBay!
