    Any advice guys?

Until recently I had a contract flext 25 plus web and walk) t-mobile vario until it went in for repair. Over the preceding couple of months the charger socket had worked loose and they have said that it was my doing and thus won't repair it or replace it. My contract runs out in January so I don't know whether to just buy a cheap mobile that I can put my sim card into and cancel with them in January or try haggling. This is the first trouble I've had with t-mobile so part of me would consider staying, however the way they have blamed me for a faulty product has annoyed me and made me question whether I should give them any more of my money. Additionally I am considering doing the sums and seeing if I can get a cheaper contract with another provider, or possibly go payg.

All suggestions appreciated, thanks in anticipation of your help.

It seems tmobile prefer new customers to old ones these days. I wanted a Compact IV off them and managed to get it a lot cheaper from !!!!!!!!!!!!! than tmobiles retentions., plus I got a 12 months contract. It actually works out cheaper than buying the phone!!
  • I have to agree. My contract is open for upgrade today, so I called to enquire about the Omnia i900, I was told the upgrade price was £350. I am paying £15 per month (flext 20 + discount) and said I would up my monthly plan to get the phone cheaper, she checked and said I would pay the same for the phone on any plan.

I asked for my pac code, hoping they would pass me on to retentions only to be told they would give it to me today for £16 or wait and get it free when my contract is up.

I've found a deal with vodafone free omnia for £35 pcm, Bye t-imobile
  • you used to be able to change to a higher plan and get an upgrade to match the new tarrif but they've changed all that from this month. I really don't think they are doing well to customers in that effect to be honest. Mind you, Orange aren't offering me squat for my upgrade so i'm moving to T-mobile end of the month.

    PPI Party Pooper
I have been with T-Mobile for two years now the first year was on a normal contracted rate then last year as I was getting a business phone on Orange I wanted to change my T-Mobile to pay as you go.

Got their £15.00 tariff for £5.00 per month they said the £10.00 per month discount was a loyalty bonus this enabled me to keep my personal number and make a few calls although the amount of free calls I got was rubbish I think it was 50 minutes and 50 texts per month.

They sent me a letter last week as this tariff was due to expire Nov 08 and they were offering me a free upgrade.

Phoned up and was offered new package their £20.00 tariff for £5.00 which included a £15 discount loyalty bonus! which gives me 200 free anywhere mins and 200 texts ....... A great deal but with a catch they wanted me to sign up for 18 months with the current financial situation I told the young man I would wait and phone back if I wanted to change but I needed some time to think because I wasn't happy with the 18 month commitment..........

He then offered me the same deal but for 6 months with no contract as a customer loyalty christmas bonus and I was free to change my mind anytime this will save me about £240 a year and I am not committed and I can pull out at anytime. WHAT A RESULT so my advice to anyone is even if they say it's there best offer tell them you will call back and be prepared to put the phone down you may be amazed at just what you might get!!!

How is 6 months line rental discount going to save you £240 in a year? Sorry, I'm just a little bit confused. To me it means you'll get the discount for up to 6 months, after that period you'll go back to the full line rental unless you call back and commit to 12/18month contract with either handset or discount again.

I was just offered £10 off my current £35 deal when I asked for a PAC. He described it as a Xmas bonus!

When I said I was already getting the £35 for £30 a month (which I negotiated when Mobile Outlet went burst, losing my cashback), he said he could do it for £20 for 6 months but with no contract extension, so I'm not tied. He said he couldn't give me a new phone, but that there were lots of new ones coming in the new year.

Then my partner negotiated his from £30/mth to £5 by signing up for 1 yr (I think), 100 texts, 100 minutes a month.

Not too bad. But I still want a new phone, but will maybe wait... until the Xperia comes? Anyone know when that is?!

Due to renew on t-mobile & have what I think is a v good deal for my beeds.

I'm on the old 50 texts and 750mins off peak to t-moble & landlines tarriff. The real cost is some £15, but over the last 4 or so years, have managed to drag the cost down and it's now £3.99pm with a free phone each time.

Was thinking of bargaining a little with them to reduce the amount of minutes in order to get a cross network amount, but for £3.99 I think the check is going a bit too far & they'd be laughing at me.

I know they can't go any lower, but was wondering what would be a good mid range phone? I have a sony K510i and it's ok. Any suggestions?

    thanks:)

I'm on this same tariff and I pay £12 odd a month, that's without out of allowance calls/texts. My contract is up on the 15th November 2008 and now I'd like to get more off and more texts and a new phone. I've been with T-mobile for nearly 14 years back to the One 2 One days.I don't think it's too much to ask for considering my time with them.

I have another problem, on the website they are offering an opt in £1 a day internet surfing. I text 3064 to opt in and make sure of the pound a day rate. The text I got back said "Thank you for adding Mobile Broadband Plus to your account, we hope that you enjoy using it!"
Well Mobile Broadband Plus is for the laptops, well that's what they say on the website, so I'm rather confused now and on my online account it's saying they will charge me £10.64 a month, I ticked for it to be removed and it says it will be on the 2nd November for god sake. It's ridiculous. I am phoning customer services as soon as it opens, I just hope they don't fob me off..any suggestions???

    Thanks in advance
  • I've 3 pay monthly contracts with T mobile - 2 are ones for my kids, in my name. They were on Flext 25 contracts which have just expired.

I rang to see what upgrades could be offered and was told that if we wanted ANY new handset it would be a minimum of £75 plus the cost of the monthly contract.

I wasn't told this by just one T mobile person but 2 different people. They both said this was a new rule brought in by T mobile from Oct 1st "because of the credit crunch - the handset manufacturers have increased the price of handsets".

I wasn't offered any loyalty discounts and instead I ended up reducing my contracts to a "pay monthly, no minimum contract" of 100 mins and texts, so I can look around and find a better phone company.

I've looked around the internet and can't find anyone else being told this £75 thing - so is it true, and if so, why would anyone stick with T mobile?

I am in no doubt that I will be asking for PAC codes shortly, as I do not feel any loyalty to a company that shows me none.

Has anyone else been told this - the T mobile staff did not speak English very well anyway, although I did ask a couple of times just to be sure I had not misheard.
  • most of T-mobiles call centres are in the UK, only really their department that deals with faulty handsets are in the phillipines (sp)

and anyway, don't get me started on the new T-mobile policy for upgrading. I can see a fair few people leaving because of this and I don't blame them. My sister and myself wont though, on the basis of 1/2 price line rental I don't really mind what I get on upgrade if anything. But for people paying £20-£25 p/m having to subsidies their own h/sets for a contract I think is unfair. They arent even letting some customers have a web match deal either. T-mobile are letting people down on this one

    Jess

P.S I can see their reasoning behind it, but after the crunch is over, how many customers will they have left?

To put it simply, T-Mobile are struggling to meet their financial targets by the end of this year and so have had to make drastic cuts in spending, with most of it being vast restrictions on upgrades. Upgrades are no longer done on an independent customer by customer basis. There are set strict rules in place now, with the aim to encourage customers to wait until January to do upgrades, when the company has more money.
I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.
