What happens when you request you pac code, after 30 days will your contract be cancelled?

Your contract will only be cancelled if the PAC code is used, if you dont use it the code will just expire after the 30 days.

As Jay says you can get the PAC code but choose not to use it and your contract will continue. It's usually the final step in mobile contract negociations as once you have the PAC code, there's pretty much nothing your provider can do to stop you leaving.

Did you go to upgrades or cancellations? You may well get a better deal by calling cancellations and saying you're looking to get your PAC code as you've seen a good deal for the N96 elsewhere.

You can quote that the N96 is available on Orange Dolphin £35/month (600 mins/UL texts) on a 18 month contract if you pay £29.99 for the phone. This is through both Dial a Phone or Mobile Express.

If you've not incurred any call charges on top of your £35/month FlexT tariff, maybe they don't think they can make enough out of you if they let you have the N96 for less than what they've quoted. In this case, you would either have to wait until it drops in price, take your business elsewhere (or maybe go for the N85 when it's out, which is better overall IMO and probably cheaper :D )

I went to upgrades, im going to ring cacelations tonight when i get home

hope i can get the deal i want, flext 35 plus web & walk... an pay at the most £50 for the phone, i dont think its that big of an ask to be honest

    i called t-mobile retentions today.

As i use hardly any minutes or texts and use my phone mainly for internet they offered me combi 15 (100 mins,100 texts) with Web n Walk for £10 a month, no new handset.

or i could get the Vario 3 (HTC Kaiser) for £150 on combi 15 w/ WnW for £20 pm. As i don't think the kaiser is significantly different from my current handset i don't think i'll be taking this deal.

i will consider the £10/month tho.

He said even tho it is an 18 month contract, if during that time i wich to get a new handset i could take out a new 18 month contract to get a new handset (i'd lose my discount)... anyone heard of that before?
I am in exactly the same situation as you but the best they could offer when I spoke to them on 27/09/08 was £20 flex w n w. At the moment I only use the broadband connection when we go away on a weekend caravanning so low usage ther at the moment. Once I am able to cancel my BT landline thsi no doubt will increase.
I got a modem from 3G for £5 per month and as they share the same network it should be no different. I can always upgrade to the higher rate with 3 at a later stage. In addition, my wife can get a Nokia N95 8GB for £24 per month from 3 with mix n match 300 minutes. Alternatively a N96 for £30 also with the 300 mix n match. Both include a reasonable video calling package. T-mobile do not seem interested in retaining customers as the lady in spoke to was quite rude and arrogant and not interested in giving me my PAC code before the ontract`expiry date unless I paid for it. I was not going to change the number until the date of expiry. I think T have just lost another customer!
  • Anyone got any good retention deals on PAYG? Recently called them up for a PAC and was surprised they didn't even try to stop me leaving...

i have found that other networks do the same. They may phone you up in a few days and offer you something but unless you try to engage in negotiations with them they will probably just let you go.

its much the same as trying to get a good price when buying a car. They won't just hand you a discount... you need to ask.

so you pay for a new phone and the problem is,want about the the aire time, they put you on the new flex 35 plan £30 or the new flex 40 plan for £31.50 and you get more to spend on each and a extra £5 you get internet too

put i am one off the lucky ones that pay £20 for new flex 35 and webnwalk ,so paying for the phone is no big deal every 18 month
and it's for life not a deal
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

  • Any advice guys?

Until recently I had a contract flext 25 plus web and walk) t-mobile vario until it went in for repair. Over the preceding couple of months the charger socket had worked loose and they have said that it was my doing and thus won't repair it or replace it. My contract runs out in January so I don't know whether to just buy a cheap mobile that I can put my sim card into and cancel with them in January or try haggling. This is the first trouble I've had with t-mobile so part of me would consider staying, however the way they have blamed me for a faulty product has annoyed me and made me question whether I should give them any more of my money. Additionally I am considering doing the sums and seeing if I can get a cheaper contract with another provider, or possibly go payg.

All suggestions appreciated, thanks in anticipation of your help.
  • In the end I ended up speaking with upgrades and they have kept me on £20 a month but for £140 worth of Flext up from £60 so am happy enough
