I believe the best time to ring for a goodish retention deal is at the end of the month. They have targets to meet for their bonus every month and if they have money left in the pot they might give a better deal than if you ring at the begining of the month.
This may have changed recently as I know that they were looking into changing their retention policies.0 -
i think greyster , that you are misunderstanding me slightly - i have never missed a payment - or been behind with payments - the fact is t mobile dont want to give me the same deal, they have tried to explain that , what i said is - you are advertising the deal i would like in national papers / online every day to new customers - yet i cannot get the same . UNLESS i wait till 1 day after my contract expires . then i can have exactly what i want .. even the customer service advisor i spoke to thinks its buisness suicide .. its the same thing that happened at orange when france telecom took over - drop all the low paying customers .. only now its so easy to get a better deal off any of the big providers . they are shooting themselves in the foot - i wonder what all the providers marketing depts are going through ... id be thinking " why bother getting new customers and spending all that money advertising "? when retentions are dropping thousands of customers everday - [ have a look on what mobile forum / t mobile ] :mad:0

Hi, I know this is a bit expensive for many, but for heavier users it may suffice. My friend got:
2 lines, 2 numbers, 2 sim cards
3000 mins anytime
100 texts anytime
Free international calling to Europe and the US
Web 'n Walk Max 20GB limit
Two Nokia 6300 handsets
£60 per month.
This was originally £154 a month, but he negotiated with them to the price above.
I've started the process of negotiating my own deal with T-Mobile, just waiting till they have the handset I want. I've found them to be very reasonable and helpful. I was even told not to just go for the deals offered to me as upgrades/discounts on the website, as the girls over the phone could do me a better deal. As always though, be polite, friendly, but firm with the staff. Nothing puts both you and the seller off worse than everyone getting stressed and then accusations and postulations start flying about. You getting stressed is only going to make you more impatient, and thus at the end of the day more likely to either come away with a deal short of what you aimed for, or hang up the phone - not good when it might go on your file.

i rang up last weekend as my flext 20 ( £15 a month ) was up for renewal got straight through to retentions and asked for my pac code. Very helpful girl eventually offered me the same for £7.50 a month if i renewed and didnt take the phone . not bad really0

It also goes on the amount of calls from non TMobile you receive, as everytime you receive a call from another network or landline, your current network receives an amount.
For Example, I have a Business Customer on Daytime 3000 with £10 discount per month, so is paying TMobile £5 + Vat and never goes over. I was told by the Business Retentions Dept that he brings in £40 per month of incoming calls, so can have a N95 on his current deal.
There are many factors in determining customer Value and if they have a history of low value then they will not take the risk of another 18months of low value, but are prepared to take the risk on New customer.0 -
I got a 3 month early upgrade on a 15 £ a month u fix contract. Gone for a combi 100 texts and 100 cross minutes still for 15 a month with a c902 for 50 quid. Went to carphone warehouse traded in an antique phone for 20 quid so paid £35 in total inc a fiver for a car charger!0

Hi,
I have just rang T mobile about my renewal and they offered me a much worse deal than you would get if you were a new customer.
They wanted to offer me what a new customer would pay £30 for £35 and also take away my free evening and weekend calls which i have now.
I said what are you giving me for loyalty then ?
Nothing apparently.
Even when I said I would go elsewhere they weren't bothered.
I will be moving to O2 as soon as my contract ends.
T mobile don't care one bit about their loyal customers.0 -

Has anyone tried to renew on Flext 20 (or Flext 25) lately? They don't offer these contracts to new customers anymore. When I asked about renewing/upgrading on Flext 20 (currently paying £15 a month for this) I was told I would lose my £5 discount and could only have a free Nokia 6300. I argued for a while and they agreed I could keep the discount but they wouldn't offer any other phone for free. Told them I'd think about it but would probably cancel.
Ain't that rubbish?0 -
I did it a few months ago. They knocked me down to just under £15 with no phone and I got one on ebay.0
