Awwwww... Richy, I just posted you a long reply and it must have got lost in the move! Here goes again...
    ______

    1) I called Orange Upgrades and asked what they could offer me. Had the usual chat about phones etc and noted it all down.

    2) Spent some time researching on the 'net and found a much better deal that I could genuinely go for.

    3) Called Orange Upgrades again and said "I spoke to someone earlier, but O2 have offered me a better deal - I wonder if you can match it?"

They had a go, but could hardly get halfway. I said, "That's better, but I'm still better off with O2".

They passed me to Retentions and the guy improved the deal again. Once he'd got the phone/bundle/price I wanted, I said "OK, that's much better - is there anything else you can throw in as a bonus?". He did some research and added the memory card.

I said, "Yes, I think that's a pretty good deal, what's next?" and he arranged for Next Day Delivery.

If T-Mobile really are rubbish with you, is there anything stopping you from switching? With Quidco cashbacks at £100 now, it might be worth the hassle .

Hey guys, I thought i'd let everyone know about my battle with t-mobile.

Currently I've been on Flex 35+w&w plus for 18 months @ 42.50 a month, quite expensive but it was handy!

I've just come to the end of my contract and I'm in a strange place, basically I'd rather like a new fancy phone. Sadly none of those are due out for another 4 months :( but I need a phone of some description!

If I go payg, I'll end up paying more and lose my loyalty discounts :( but If I sign up for a new contract I'll be stuck on a crap contract which some subsidise me!

My theory was, get the most expensive phone free on the cheapest contract (which will still cover me).. Then either sell it or keep it and sell it later (my current phone is wrecked)..

Anyway, I've been trying and this is what I've been offered!
Flex 25 sim only, £11! Bargain on 18 months... (Very genuine operator too!)
    Flex 25 + N95(free) £20 :/... Expensive, didn't try very hard :(
    Flex 25 + N95 + 8gig card £15-20 I believe (I'm trying to get this deal again!)

If the N95 is worth ~£150-160 on ebay, the sim only deal would barely be any additional value as I'd have to buy a phone of some description (middle ground, £126 saving over 18 months - ~£60 for a phone).....

Go with the £15-20 contract, I'd have a phone for the next 4 months and will be able to sell it for around ~£100 (if I choose too)...

The curve ball is, at the moment I'm barely using my phone (flex 25 would be great) however when I head back to uni, I'll really need Flex35. I could just "upgrade" but I wouldn't gain any additional subsidy for it (unless I tried to play them for an upgrade, I doubt that'll work).

So what does everyone think of my escapades :)

    Hey Everyone,

Thought I might share some recent fun and games I had with T-Mobile.

I hadn't renewed my contract or got a new handset etc from them for well over two years. Also, my calling pattern changed so that I no longer needed the £30/month deal.

I phoned up T-Mobile to request my PAC code and a contract termination only to be told that I couldn't have it because I'd received a new handset 8 months ago! I knew this to be utter rubbish and spent an hour getting all the details from a T-Mobile operator.

It turns out that upgrades are handled over the phone and no evidence is requested from the company providing the upgrade that they have actually done the service! Further more, T-Mobile were unwilling to follow this up with the provider of my new handset insisting that it was down to me to do this. They were, however, able to give me the details of the company.

The next step was to ring up this third party company. Surprisingly they were very helpful, confirmed that they had not sent me a phone and then called T-Mobile to confirm all this.

You would think that T-Mobile would then contact me to let me know it had been sorted. Strangely enough :) they didn't and I only found out by using their online account management.

Anyway, when all this had been resolved I was fuming with T-Mobile and determined to make them suffer or kick them into touch in favour of a PAYG deal. To this end I phoned them up, asked for customer retentions and told them that I was off unless they offered me a deal on my current package so that I only paid £5/month. Amazingly they agreed and I accepted it because it is cheaper than any PAYG deal that would have suited me!

I am sure that there are a lot of lessons to be learnt here. Particularly if you work for T-Mobile....

Seriously though, there is no harm in going in and asking for precisely what you want and you might even get it.

I have been with T-Mobile since they were 1-2-1.

Been on a soletrader contract for 5 years now.

I travel loads and have had my eyes on the HTC TyTn 2/Vario III/O2 Stellar for a while.

    All prices below exclude VAT:

I have included my sums straight from OneNote.

    Orange offered: £32.54
    Free Phone
    900 Any time mins

    400 Texts
    Unlimited data
I also had to trade in my current phone -K800i

    O2 Offered: £34.38

    Free Phone

    700min
    450 text
    Unlimited data

Vodafone were way off the pace with £10 more!

1st Call to T-mobile was pretty good, business support is professional usually.
    T-Mobile Offered:£36.17

    Free Phone
Flex 35 Which is £180 mix of text or call. £180=900mins
    Unlimited data

So...I was heading to O2 in my head (partly because I wanted to get rid of my current phone on my on terms). Then I checked T-Mobile for new customers and they had the flex 35 for £25.54 excluding the data and the phone for £102. Which over 18 months would make it £90 better off. 36.17*18=651.06 vs 25.54*18=459.72 Difference = 192-£102 for the phone = £90

So I called them back and they said that they had a better offer for new customers. Lovely girl worked through the figures and offered:

    Phone for 59.57

    31.92 per month
    Flex 35 as above
    Unlimited Data
    Free Bluetooth headset
Plus unlimited calls at the weekend!

59.57/18=3.3094 Rounds up to just over the O2 price and I dont have to worry about changing networks, the phone comes tomorrow for free delivery.

    Splendid!

    Hi all,

I have been with T Mob for the last 10years, and am eligible for an upgrade.

Im currently on the Flext 35 (with unlimited weekend/evenings calls on top of the free allowance). Currently pay £35 a month.

I want to upgrade to a BlackBerry Pearl 8110. i called them up today, and they reckon that the best can do the this for me is £40 (same as they give to new customers), that £40 includes my Flext 35 + the Blackberry Email/Unlimited Web package which is usually £10). i told them i was not happy with it, and lady insisted that was the best she could do, i thought i'd try asking for Pac number, and she happily obliged.

Now does anyone how best to play Tmobile, as i really do want to leave, as im really happy with my Flext 35 price plan, but i just dont want to pay £40 a month for it.

Can anyone please advise of your experiences with Tmob upgrades, and then i'll give it another shot and hopefully save some money.

    Thanks in advance.

    Da Big Dawg

im also due an upgrade as my flext contract ends in a couple of weeks. ive been offered a worse deal than whats available to new customers. im told that if you wait till the day of renewal ,ring up and ask for your pac code to leave they will make much better offers. There is a few threads on here about it. your pac code lasts for 30 days and if you dont move it just expires . im sure they will improve there offer there is a fair bit of competition out there. good luck

T-Mobile's retentions offers are generally regarded as worse than its competitors, AFAIK - which is a real shame, since generally they're quite good.

Although having said that, they recently seem to have outsourced their support to India...
  • Christ! and I nearly stayed with them because of UK support. Good packages and great Customer Service. Ended up with Three but it was a close run thing between being tied to 18 month contract but UK customer service and PAYG with great add-ons but indian call centre. Glad I didn't stay if they are farming it out to india too! Prepare to suffer!

    thnks for your replies.

was what i was thinking, in the old days i used to really batter down my tarriffs before the flext.

may have to just pay a fiver extra for the Blackberry/Flext35 tarrif.
