It's a terrible deal when you can get an iPhone 5 for the same price per month and with more allowances.

Well for example if you go through Mobiles.co.uk who are owned by carphone warehouse you can get Unl Mins/Texts and 1GB Data for £27pm + £99 upfront. (£30 cashback from TCB/Quidco) for the iPhone 5.

So getting less for the iPhone 4 at roughly the same price, a phone that is now 3 years old.... not amazing.

In fact you can get the exact same deal you were told from the same company for the iPhone 4s at £22pm + £49 upfront.

Go to mobiles.co.uk, have a look at the deals and see if you can get O2 to price match them. If they can't it may be worth a look at signing up again but via a third party.

See if they can give you a bill credit as well. I've heard O2 are good at that.

Also like the above poster mentioned, The iPhone 4 is not worth purchasing on a 2 year contract... unless you want a 5 year old outdated, incompatible with everything phone at the end of it.

Thank you thats really helpful. Sadly paying upfront for a phone is out of the question as zero money to spend (hence why trying to lower monthly bill, lol) ;)

Well it's still worth asking O2 what they can do on other phones other than the iPhone as pretty much all iPhones have an upfront cost, apart from the 4 (and that's because it's so old).

O2 can normally lower the monthly cost of a lot of phones and even through in bill credits as well.

Long story short, I got my PAC code from o2 today as I don't think my tariff of 600mins/ultd texts/500mb data at £16 offer good value anymore.

o2 said they can't offer any deals at all on sim only tariffs, only on tariffs with handsets which I don't want as I buy my phones sim free.

Can they really not offer any deals on a sim only tariff, or have I been told a porky or two?

Interesting, need to ask them for our two contracts and was looking to switch to that tariff, will give them a shout and see what they offer...

Upgrade attempt with O2. Sorry its a long story; but will try to be as concise as possible.
I have a sim only contract with O2 for many years now as a second phone which my wife uses. And paying £10.54 at the moment for 300 min, unlimited landlines and unlimited texts. Decided t get an upgrade to get a basic phone. Chatted to 02 online and offered a deal with 300 min, unlimited landline and 100 MB internet & unlimited O2 wifi. The phone I was offered was LG Optimus L3 III or SonyXperia E. I pushed for a samsung galaxy and was offered Galaxy Young on £11/month for 24 months which I accepted.
When I checked later, I saw that I was being offered 250 minutes and not 300.
So I have cancelled the order. The guy said that he will ring me next week so find out which phone n contract I am interested in. Looking at the O2 site, the phones in the same range would be (I would like to stay on the same tariff, upto £11/month)
    1. Samsung Galaxy Y
    2. Sony Xperia E
    3. Sony Xperia Tipo
    4. LG Optimus L3 II
    5. Samsung Galaxy Fame (may be a bit pricier)
    6. Nokia Lumina 610
    7. Samsung Galaxy music (may be a bit pricier as well)

    Any suggestions for the phone.
    My needs:
Unlimited land-line mins, about 50-100 texts, at least 300 cross-network minutes and a little bit (about 100 MB) of internet would be handy.
I like the Samsung Galaxy Ace but it is out of stock. Might also ask for HTC Desire C but is a bit pricier on their website.
    Thank you
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • i take back everything i have said and cannot deter you from o2 more strongly

their customer service and especially web chat is a total waste of time

i was even told my account was in credit by over 120 pounds...phone had been disconnected...they were unable to reconnect and i would have to travel to the nearest shop to be reconnected even though the error was a technical hitch at their end!!!

Anyone had any good retention deals with O2 recently??

I'm due an upgrade and have been with O2 ever since I got my first phone, so a good 8+ years. Rang up today and asked them to price match a deal I found through this website on directmobiles .co .uk for an iPhone 5, 16GB, on T-Mobile- Unlimited Data, Unlimited Texts, 500 Minutes for £27 a month and £59.99 upfront cost. The woman I spoke to said they can only price match from the actual T-Mobile website and not from 3rd party sites, she didn't offer me anymore deals and said for that contract I would have to pay £199 upfront for the phone. I know I can get a deal almost as good as that from O2 and only pay £100 upfront so I don't know why she thought I would agree to paying £199...

Anyways I asked for my PAC code but I don't actually want to leave, any chance I'll start getting calls from the retentions department do you think???
