ok, not sure how to go for this.
last year ( well 18 mnths ago) i went from £15 a month (after discount) up to £20 a month ( after discount) for i think 600 mins and 600 texts with unlimited internet. with this i got the sony ericson c702i phone i was after. happy days.
i only use approx 200 mins a month max and about 4 texts. i also have my o2 broadband and have jsut switched my landline to them so have a £5 discount for having a contract with them. are you with me so far thsi is how it gets complicated. Mrs flybynight is on O2 pay as you go and would like a contract. she is after the samsung genio touch and 50 mins and 100 txts but would also like unlimited internet on it.
i would like my existing tarrif ( or 200 mins and 100 txts but with unlimited internet / data) and either a htc desire legend or wildfire. i anc pay up to £30 a month ( this is wat vodafone are offerning me. i will need to keep one contract wiht o2 to keep the cheap broadband.
any ideas the best way to negotiate this?

Im afraid you wont be able to - O2 are being really unreasonable at the moment- especailly for the desire.
I have been trying to negotiate with them for the desire but no luck. If you take a tariff under £40 you have to pay for the phone. Plus they are charging an extra £5 for the internet usage- I usually have the internet as a bolt on but they said its not possable for the desire.

You can get the HTC Legend on O2 with 300 mins Unlimited sms and Internet for £30 on 24 Month Contract, same for Desire(but handset costs £20.)

https://www.buymobilephones.net and if you buy via quidco you get £30 cashback, and there is also £15 cashback from the site on the Legend.

Or you can buy the Desire for £285 without a contract from o2 directly and use a simplicity tariff for £15 a month.

i looked at the buy mobiles . net offer, and found i couldnt keep my number going from an o2 to an o2 for some reason.
the lady has just offered me the desire for free for £35 a month wiht 600 mins and unlimited texts and unlimited internet. with the option to "downgrade me tarrif at 9 months to £25 a month for 300 mins and unlimited texts and then to downgrade it again the month after ( i really don't use a lot of minutes). for some reason o2 retentions can't do the legend.

    Because it's exclusive to Vodafone?

Was going to try and sort out a retentions deal today but the line seems constantly busy, must be all the iphone chumps

Is it possible to cancel an O2 contract before the renewal date? I am on business though, and have a couple months left, but have realised i am getting such a terrible deal.

To cancel you need to pay the remaining months off, some networks do a reduction if you do, some don't.

I called the o2 upgrades team yesterday, the person on the phone offered me 600mins,unlimited txt and the blackberry services all for £15 per month on a 12 month deal and as i was not having a new handset he would give me £100 free credit. However as yesterday was my billing date the system on o2's side takes 24hours to clear and he advised me to call back today and they would sort me out with the deal, and he made all the notes on my account.

Having called in today o2 are advising they cant offer me this deal..and I am awaiting a call from the person i spoke to yesterday.

Any ideas what to do if they say no?

you have to pay off the remaining months to cancel before the contract.
  • hmmm, this thread been quiet for a few days

Im at that time again where i need to ring o2 and upgrdade (via retentions). I've had really good advice and guidance of this thread in the past as to the discounts i should expect etc.... so

I upgraded last time for SEc905 £35 tariff discounted to £20

    1) by reading the last few pages i shouldnt expect any discount on published tariffs this time?

    2) i will have to pay for any recently released phone?

    3) whats chances of getting iphone?

Basically what i looking for is best phone for best monthly fee? (which is what we all looking for obviously:o)

Thanks in advance of any help
Am i here to save money or spend money......hmmmmm
