02 Retentions thread 2

Just spoke with someone in Retentions this morning, as I was thinking of switching to 3's £15 SIM only deal which would save me £5 a month and still have enough minutes for my use. The person I spoke to mentioned that O2 are changing their tariffs at the end of the month, and that I could wait and see. Just thought of posting what I heard to find out if anyone else has been told the same thing. If O2 are indeed revising their tariffs to be more competitive I probably would not switch as I'm very happy with the coverage I'm getting and they've always dealt with any problems well.
3's SIM only deal is offered up to the end of the month according to their website, so I'm a little interested to find out if what the O2 staff member told me was just a ruse to keep me on until the alternative offer isn't available anymore :P0 -

I went into 2 separate Phones4U yesterday trying for that or something similar and neither would budge from the £184.99.
Thats it! I'm throwing all my toys out of the pram!0 -

Callled retentions back yesterday and they just wouldn't budge. It was either £30 per month for 24 months, or £35 for 18, since I wanted the SE Aino. Absolutely no discount what so ever.
He asked about 4 times if I was interested in an iphone, so out of curiosity I asked what the best deal on an iphone refurb was, was offered this,
iphone 3g 8gb - free
600 mins
500txt
free o2 to o2
free internet
£27 a month for 18 months.
So I said, basically you're not interested in keeping customers who don't want an iphone. He reluctantly agreed and said he himself thought it was stupid, but he could only offer deals the system would allow.
I agreed to the deal, probably cpould have pushed for a 3gs but I'm not bothered since I've no intention of keeping it. Plan on ebaying it and using the cash to buy the aino.Sigless0 -

I've not rung retentions yet, still got two weeks till I'm due however I keep seeing contracts mentioning unlimited Wi-Fi!
I think I need this explaining as Wi-Fi is unlimited its not something you get charged for at home!
Does anyone know what it refers too.Capt_Carl

It is just of promoting their phone..... just a gimmick It just means that phone has a wifi capability, nothing more.
You will be able to use it if there is a free wifi available where u r or yur personal home wifi.I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -

It's access to wifi hotspots, so you can use it in cafe's, train stations etc. If you've got the internet bolt on, it's better. Obviously using your home/friends wifi is separate and free anyway.0 -
There seems to be alot of O2 bashing going on here!
Some people I noted have commented that they have been with O2 for nearly four years etc... but thats only two contracts! (18 months).
In any event if I had shares in Telefonica (owners of O2) Id have a heart attack knowing that they are still giving away phones, 40% discounts, £15 off line rental, replacement handsets at a drop of hat etc.....
can you imgaine how much of a loss they have had made on certain individuals.....
Reading the o2 threads of last year was incredible in comparison to the last few months. I read that last years post someone got offered a O2 Zest, 200 minutes, 400 text messages and a free bolt on for £5 per month on an 18 month contract......
WOW....but not anymore. I got a deal this time round but nowhere near as good as before.......but they are still miles better that vodafoam or treegeee.
No I dont work for o2. P'ting.0 -

O2 as a company is still in the business and generating profits for its share holders. It did also last year and previous year even after throwing Zest or whatever for throw away price.
This is a crunch time and people want to cut down on their expenses. you mentioned that o2 are better than three and voda..I totally agree with you.
But the deals offered by Orange or Tmobile at the moment are extra ordinary and O2 is nowhere competitive. Who care O2 as a company whether they grow or not. I have no sympathy over corportate firms who milk the consumer like cows and forget them.....all the corporates want is to increase their profits and announce more dividends. That is the business model of a corporate company.
As a consumer, I want to beat it as much as I can. If o2 dont offer it and orange or tmobile offers it, i wont hesitate a single moment to switchover to them.0
