Hi guys,
Don't often post on here but have been reading this thread with interest over the last few weeks. My contract is up for renewal a month tomorrow (so i will start ringing around as of tomorrow morning.) The phone i am after is the blackberry 8520 curve. Currently on what should be a £35 a month for 18 months contract, but am actually paying £20 a month.
02 are advertising the phone for 300 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet for £32.50 for 24 months. I don't mind the extra 6 months as i am normally fairly careful with my phones. Technically, 02 will be saving £2.50 a month on me (if that makes any sense) yet will this make any difference in the eyes of the sales people?
Thanks for any replies, it will be good to know if i am setting my heights too high (or even low) before ringing them.

I honestly would not bother.
I have Blackberry with O2 and my contract was up 8 weeks ago. I have since went onto a simplicity plan and await the HTC Desire.
There are good deals out there and as most of teh networks are getting the Desire there should be some competition.0 -
I didn't want the HD2 (which might be my problem). I'm currently on a £35 tariff with £10 discount. Had the XDA ignito (crap phone) and want a new smartphone plus a reduction in tariff. O2 couldn't offer anything that would come close to my target which is £300 for a phone + 24 months of contract with low mins/text + web.
So my options now:
1. T-mobile for £10/month for 100 mins/unlim txt/unlim web + £71 for phone
2. Try O2 again, perhaps look at the HD2
3. Orange/Vodafone?
4. Wait for the next lot of android releases.0 -
More of a watcher than a poster but thought i would tell the world i upgraded to the Palm Pre. Had it for a week and got to say a great phone. Better than the iPhone dare i say.
£35 per month
Unlim texts
Unlim Internet & WIFI (BT Openzone and The Cloud)
900 Mins0 -
...and the Pre is now free on all tariffs with 3 free 3D games from EA Games, Monopoly, Need for Speed Undercover and Sims3.0

I've been with O2 for ten years or so... but only on an old BT Genie £10/month (100mins landline&O2 only, unlimited text, unlimited (dial-up) WAP, no GPRS at all.) For most of the time, it's not been worth changing, but bills have been creeping up due to non-O2mobile calls.
Also, as I have an N95, which doesn't support dial-up WAP, I've been considering changing for some time. Called them the other day, and the best they could offer me was £20/month 600 mins, unlimited data, unlimited texts. I pointed out the £15/month 300mins, unlimited data, unlimited text on their website, and they grudgingly admitted it existed. But no discount available on either. I asked about handsets - the best they could do me was £24 off the quoted price. Since signing up to the £15/month deal via quidco ought to get me £50 cashback, I declined that, and just went though quidco. Over the year, it should end up costing me less per month than i'm currently paying, plus gives me mobile internet outside of WiFi hotspots.
So... ten years on the bottom tariff gets me less loyalty discount that they would pay commission on the exact same account via a third party. Fine...0 -

If you get it let me know!!
I was on the £45 tariff paying £27 per month (at whatever discount). The best they could offer me for the BB Bold was £47.50. Even at lower minutes, they couldn't give me a better deal. They now charge £7.50 for the BB unlimited which we used to get free as part of the package!
As a result I am now leaving to go to T-Mobile.
Also be told by friends from work on other competitors that O2 are offering really bad deals and losing a lot of customers.0 -
...because the wife and I had just come to the end of 18 month Simplicity contracts with O2 (£10/mth after rebate, 200 min, 400 text, free O2 to O2, £100 credited).
The paperwork said we had "rolling" contracts so, with other pressing matters to hand, we weren't rushing for a change - until the wife had a text from O2 advising an imminent £30 monthly charge! It turned out that the base cost rolled but the benefits and discounts did not.
Quick internet search and we ended up with T-Mobile, Nokia 5800 for free (nice touch phone, Skype, YouTube and Iplayer now installed - impressed), 2 year contract, 300 mins, 300 text and unlimited internet for.... £15/mth. O2 were nowhere near matching this deal so, two PAC's later, we've gone....
Oh!, £55 cashback from buymobilephones and £29.99 from Quidco just to put the cherry on top.... each!
