Hi, just thought I'd post my story on here in case it is helpful to anybody. I have been with O2 for around 5 years, always on the same contract - £20 a month for 300 off-peak mins and 500 texts.

I wanted a contract for the same price but with around 300 anytime mins, and only needed about 150 texts. I first rang the upgrade department and all they would offer me where the usual deals, i.e. what they offer new customers.

I looked at other offers from other networks and found an Orange deal for 350 anytime mins + 250 texts for £20. Rang O2 today and pressed the button for 'if you want to cancel', and asked for PAC code because I wanted to move to another network as I'd found a better deal. When I told her what this deal was, she offered my 400 anytime mins and 1000 texts for £20 a month :D (and phone upgrade too).

If this was a 12 month contract then you got a cracking deal. Was it 12 or 18 months?

I got the same for £15 a month and instead of a phone upgrade I went for £150 credit.

I've been offered an 18 month contract, £20 a month with 275min and 250 text. I will also get £300 cashback so the effective monthly cost is £3.33

No phone however - should I accept the deal and buy a phone seperately, or should I continue to haggle?

Factor it in. The £300 is in lieu of them providing you a new handset and you might have to pay more than that for an unlocked version. If you like your current handset or will take a cheap (perhaps PAYG?) it is a fine deal. If you are likely to get a Samsung Soul they cost around £285, but an LG KF750/Secret is around £350.

Hi, could you tell me if your contract is for 12 or 18 months. I am looking for 300 anytime minutes and a few texts. No phone.

got my bill today, they got the data bolt on and free unlimited calls right, but have given me 200 less texts a month than we agreed at upgrade!
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • I am thinking about changing my tariff/phone but before i call them can anyone give me some guide as to what i can expect them to offer or get away with me asking for?
I'm on an o2 online 200 contract from years and years ago, my 12 months have well expired and i pay £20 per month. I dont normally spend much more than that but will my low monthly rental mean i will get less offered to me if i call? Also, will it affect which phones i will be able to upgrade to? will i have any chance of getting one of the nice new ones or will they only give me the middle of the range sort?

    Thanks
