yea i am in last month of my contract and am on the same deal (online 35 but pay 20) and was told if i wanted to stay on the same tariff wouldnt get a new phone, if i wanted a new phone would need to be 2 year deal, £25 a month and a very poor range of phones was offered!!0

I've been with o2 for 6 years - never had a problem with upgrades in the past. Totally different this time.
I rang retentions the other day and was told i wasn't even allowed to keep my existing tariff - really old on-line one which obviously didn't make them enough money:eek:
Needless to say,i've now gone elsewhere.
Think i've got myself a good deal in the end - ironically with o2 via Dial-a-phone.
Deal is:
Nokia 5800
400 mins per month
Unlimited texts per month
£25 per month for 24 months which works out at £600
But:
Automatic cashback = £200
Quidco for Dial-a-phone contract = £50
Quidco for old phone to MOPAY = £3.80
MOPAY for old phone = £22.10
So will actually cost me £600-£275.90 =£324.10 for 24 months or £13.50 per month.
Well pleased with that!

I've got 3 phones up for renewal: 1 now with CPW O2 and one with vodafone via M2YD. Current deal with CPW O2 was 1200mins/1000txt, 12 month@£50p/m with £600 cashback giving effective £0.00p/m - SIM only.
Best SIM only deal they're currently offering is 18month, 600mins with either 200min or internet bolt-on for £35p/m with £540 cashback giving effective £5p/m. Couldn't get any decent deals with latest handsets though. As I'm looking to get a decent internet phone, I thought, best thing might be to go with the SIM only deal and just buy the phone like the iPhone which costs £440 plus £90 over 18 months = £530 I can't seem to find a better deal.
would like to hear your thoughts0 -
I'm doing a deal like what you are thinking about,
I have purchased an iPhone and i am looking to get a sim only when my contract is due for renewal.
Working it out, it seemed best for me to do it, providing i get free internet!!!0 -
i went into phone4u and ironically my new deal is with O2.
Really couldnt see it any cheaper elsewhere for the phone I wanted so I have got...
a 24 months contract (hmmmm)
nokia n86 for £25 (traded in my samsung g600 to get money off)
unlimited texts,
600 mins
for £25 a month.
so still with 02 only because cheapest deal. And at least havent had to hassle about porting my number to another network. Now Ill have to see how smoothly this will go!!0 -

I dont think its a great deal imo. 24 months at 25 pounds a month is very very very high....you may get better deals elsewhere for cheaper for the same no of mins on 18 months contracts.0 -
II D2 II: how much did u pay for your iphone, which model and where from please?
was just gonna point out the same thing as narika, 24*25=£600. You can prob pickup the nokia n86 from around £350 from what I've had a quick look at google. As your already on O2, if you go through to retentions you can get a sim only deal 18month, £35p/m, 600min plus either 200min or internet, with £540 c/b effective £5p/m which is £90 for the 18month. In total works out around £440 saving you you £160 on your deal.
it seems like any of the decent smartphones on contract seem to be £25p/m upwards on 18/24 month contracts and seems the best thing to do is to buy the phone outright and go for a sim only deal.0 -
Hi
Just rang 02 retentions, i am a low call/text user but now want unlimited internet and NEED a new handset, they offered me
free re-con 8gb iphone
18mth contract
600 mins
500 text
unlimited data/wifi
£35/mth
Samsung tocco (free)
1000 mins
600 text
unlimited 'net
£30/mth
Samsung tocco (free)
400 mins
1000 text
free 02-02 calls
unlimited 'net
£25/mth
(most of my calls are 02-02)
any thoughts please?0 -
Depending on how much much you use your phone for calls, I'd consider the Tocco's. Wouldn't bother with the iPhone. That's an appalling deal0

Hi
Samsung tocco (free)
400 mins
1000 text
free 02-02 calls
unlimited 'net
£25/mth
(most of my calls are 02-02)
any thoughts please?
Are you sure they offered you both of these bolt-ons together? No offence intended in the question, it's just that I've only ever heard of them being offered on an "either / or" basis or charged at an additional monthly cost - any ideas would be great to hear.
Thanks
