Bah! Just tried O2 and got zippo. Currently out of contract(!), paying £15 for 250mins/100txts and £7.50 for web bolt on. Retentions' attitude was basically there's nothing we can offer you, be grateful for what you have:mad:

I can't easily leave O2 as I'm using the contract SIM on a locked PAYG iPhone...

  • Been reading these posts with interest... have spent ages online trying to search out the best deals and ended up caving and just staying with O2! I'm not even that impressed with what I got, but I just got tired of wasting time with the whole thing.

I was previously on 200 mins, 1400 texts for £25 per month. My handset died a horrible death about two months ago, and I've been borrowing a friend's spare "brick" and am in desperate need of a new phone. Contemplated the iphone but it's just a slap in the face that you can't get any deals from being a loyal O2 customer!!

Decided to just go with a Nokia 5800 with 600 mins, 2000 texts (I only use about 600!) and unlimited internet for £30 per month on 18 months. I needed to get mobile internet as was using it more and more on my old phone and that was costing a fair bit.

i just find it stupid of O2 that i can go to the carphone warehouse and get the exact same tariff, same cost, same minutes, same texts, same bolt on, as o2, on an O2 contract (with CPWH, As that all sounds confusing) but with CPWH i can get the handset i want as a new customer and i can't with O2 as an existing customer. you would think this would be something they would do to keep their customers.

Couple of quick questions, hopefully someone can help.

Was on 12 month contract £35 with £10 discount. Apparently ended last month, i thought it was this month. bill came through, missing the discount. Asked why, they said a contract just continues unless i cancel it and my discount disappears. Is this true?

Also wanting to go PAYG. Do i need pac code and do i need to tell them what network im moving too? Cause they asked. I actually havent even looked yet.

    Yes it is.

You need a PAC if you want to move networks - no you don't need to tell them where.

If you want to move to O2 PAYG just ask them to do so.

Anyway, I ended up leaving the store with a Nokia 5800 for free, on a contract for 24 months for 600 minutes, unlimited text package at a cost of £25.00 per month. He also offered me £90.00 cashback on my old phone (a really old Nokia - about 5 years old!) so my package is £20.00 for 18 months if you take off the cashback and after 18 months I can update to a better phone too.

Could have got the same thing direct from Vodafone for £15 a month, saving £240...

Including the £90 cashback, but keeping your old brick as well.

Ho hum, phones 4u = criminals

Really? Shame - when I checked with Vodaphone I could only get 100 mins and 200 texts for £15.00 per month on the 5800... which I would go over on most months.

This one looks as if it'll run & run!
