***EDIT*** Putting numbers down it would work out as follows

    £20 x 18 months = £360
    + £48.09 for handset = £408.90
    - £50 (min) from sale of old handset = £358.90

divided by 18 months = £19.94 per month average

Worth looking at Quidco / Topcashback. See how much you could earn for starting an orange contract and then do the same as above.

I believe Orange offer £50 for a new contract, plus the £50 for the sale of your old phone.

Then see how much it brings it to per month. The only hassle is porting your number. The ONLY reason I didnt do this myself (Orange were offering £100 cashback on topcashback last week) was because I would have lost my £5 a month discount for O2 broadband too, so was easier to stick in the end.

After reading this thread over the last few months i nagged my hubby to ring and try and get a better deal than he was on. He rang retentions today and asked for a SE C902 he really wanted the 905 but has read bad reviews so said he would be happy with this one. He was paying £35 a month for
    500 texts
    600 mins
    unlimited O2 to O2

    He got
    1000 texts
    600 mins
    unlimited O2 to O2
    SE C902
    £20 Month

He is happy with this deal could he have done better?

The deal your husband got is precisely what I want when I ring on Saturday to renew my contract!

To all blackberry renewers with web bolt on that don't want to use the blackberry (phew, what a summary) ... please check your letter that O2 has sent regarding your renewal. When I checked the letter I was surprised to see "web daily, you won't pay more than 9xp per day" ... I forget the exact max daily charge. Knowing that I'd specifically asked for web unlimited as the bolt on I was surprised to see the web daily listed so phoned to check. It seems that, in my case at least, they've plonked the blackberry bolt-on onto my contract rather than the specific web unlimited one because it offers both free web access and the blackberry email service BUT only from the blackberry. My phone is going to ebay so they've switched my bolt on to the regular web unlimited.

That seems the pretty standard tariff that they give out.
    Well done! :D

The details given out weren't totally clear, I didn't pay 100% attention to the full terms as I was being given what I wanted ... I thought initially the lady I spoke to said that you had to wait for 9 months before changing a bolt-on, then that bolt-ons could only be changed every 3 months (not sure if you have to wait 9 months and then every 3) - whatever, I explained what I wanted, explained why I wanted it, they checked and corrected the mistake. Shouldn't be a problem.

Ridiculous... having been offered 1200 mins, 1000 texts and free web bolt on with a Blackberry for £30 a month 10 days ago, I spoke to retentions today. Best they can now do is 600 mins, 1000 texts and free Blackberry for £35 a month. Or if I keep my phone, they'll give me the tariff with 600 mins for £30 a month, with £125 credit (18 month contract). Does anybody else think this is a joke?! (By the way, have provisionally gone for the Simplicity tariff which is far better value!)
