I have been with O2 for 5 years, and my 18 months contract ends in June. I have been on 200 mins 400 msgs, free 02 calls for £20 a month.
I called this morning, and have been offered either the Simplicity for £10/m for 150 mins and 300msgs, or £20 for continuing the existing deal, 18m contract, with £150 cashback (no phone), or £15, same deal, 24 months contract, £150 cashback.
I don't need a new phone, and am tempting to take out the 24m deal as it works out just over £9 per month in a 2 years period. Is this a good deal? Or can they do better?0 -
They could do better see what I got, been with 02 10 years but only 5-6 on this contract. I was on same tariff as you but with free web also on 12 mths not 18 for £20. They offered me 200 mins, 400 texts, free 02 calls for £10 mth over 18 mths. Said I wanted my pac code and their win back team called me back, offered me £150 cashback or top spec phone, same offer for the £10 but with free web too!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Thank you. The lady said she will keep this offer on the record for 7 days. I was told I need to give 30 days notice for discontinuing their service. Is it the same for requesting a PAC code?0 -

When you get your PAC code your contract ends when you use your PAC code. I would request it and wait 2-3 days for them to ring you and try to win you back and if they dont ring them as they will work harder to keep youWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Do they only offer specific phones on retentions deals? I have my eye on a Sony Ericsson C902 - I saw Orange doing 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £25 per month - so I could always tell O2 of this and see what they can do. Or, do they offer only specific phones? Alot of Nokia 5800s being offered around here...0

Just called O2 for my upgrade,
offered
600 mins
1000 text
unlimited internet
£20 per month
BUT... to get the Samsung Tocco Ultra she was insistant that it would cost me £48.90 for the phone.
She has said this will be honoured for 7 days. Would not budge on the handset cost though despite other networks offering it free on tariffs ranging from £19.44 - £25 per month. She really was trying to play up the fact she was offering more mins.
Any advise? Should I request my PAC and hold out hoping for a call after her saying tomorrow they enter a new quarter and can't offer anything as good as today? Should I ring back later and try again??
Thanks

I went throuogh to a lovely chap on my last call and was told retentions have a budget for each customer (dependant on your spend and how long youve been with them) which is why they cant have a top notch phone on low line rental basically. He said the win back team have a extra £150 budget on average per customer!
Anyway he told me that all phones you get on the £20 mth less contracts are A graded (returned phones) and most advisors dont tell you this. Win back team though will give you a NEW phone apparentlyWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

I would ring back and try again. I would try to blag it and say Ive been offered the C902 on £20 month and see how it goes :rotfl: say you wanted to think about it. If they dont budge get your PAC code and they should ring you back in a day or 2 if not then try again lolWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Tried calling back, straight through to retentions this time. I think I may have sounded a bit wary though as I was hoping they couldn't see the previous deal I'd been offered earlier!!
Anyway, this lady said nope, can't do the Tocco Ultra free unless you pay £30 for the tariff. I declined due to it being more than the tariff I'm on now!!
I am seriously considering taking the previous deal, paying for the phone and getting back the £48 by doing what I usually do and flogging the old phone on Ebay as I've only had it for 8 months.
I can see the advantage of getting the PAC but I'm also a little worried that the win back team just plain won't call or they'll call between 9 and 5 mon-fri and I can't answer phone between 8:30 and 6.
If I make the £48 back on my old phone I'll be still saving £5 per month and getting a lot more from the tariff than I am currently with only 200 mins and 200 texts.
Could I be running into a problem as I'm a low user?? The first retentions person I spoke to place real emphasis on how little I used and was keen to ask if I use under my 200 mins now would I actually need more mins?? She said I'm quite a low user 64 mins on last month and 36 texts!!!
Based on this theory I think it's not too bad a deal. Any other thoughts?
***EDIT*** Putting numbers down it would work out as follows
£20 x 18 months = £360
+ £48.09 for handset = £408.90
- £50 (min) from sale of old handset = £358.90
divided by 18 months = £19.94 per month average0 -
So called back almost certain I was going to go ahead with the deal for £20 that was offered.
Mentioned cost of phone again and they really won't shift. However, got more info out of the the lovely retentions lady this time round.
Their deals change month to month so I could be offered something completely different tomorrow (being 1st June). It could be better or worse but I will still have the £20 deal that is on the table and will be honored for 7 days.
Either way the phone would not get to me until Tuesday. I will call them tomorrow and see what goes. Nothing to say that all of a sudden, new month and oooh look you can have the phone free.
Nothing ventured, nothing gain.0
