I rang up yesterday just on the off chance as my contract finishes in a couple of weeks and I was wondering what they would offer me. I didn't want a new phone as I use an iPhone bought from the US, all they would give me was a Simplicity tariff.

Any others have experience of getting something good when not wanting a new phone?

Can anyone give me some bargaining tips for this? Any other contracts I could move to with other networks that compare with the Simplicity tariff?
  • I got 200 mins + 200 texts free for a year when I didn't want a new phone x

Willing to give me 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited web browsing, £180 cashback but 18 month contract for £25 a month. This a decent deal? I'm sure I got a better deal when I went emailed Peter Erskine last year.

I have asked O2 if they can match the offer i have been given by orange which was: -

    £35.00 a month
    free LG viewty
    600mins
    unlimited texts
    18 months
£150 credit against an old handset
The credit is paid monthly over the contract bringing the monthly cost down to £26.67.

Without too much problem they said they would offer the same deal without the hassles of messing about with credit for £25 a month.

Hope this helps someone cus i was happy with it.

  • I'd try and get them to throw in some free texts too - may sound random as you have unlimited texts :) But that doesn't apply to picture messages, so it's nice to have a few aside if you wanted to send some.. Rather than been charged 40p each time :) x

Thanks for the tip but i actually asked about picture messaging & i was specifically told that picture messages were included in my unlimited texts

  • I've a mobile contract with O2 through Carphone Warehouse and currently have a cashback deal costing £10 pm for 200 minutes and 200 texts, due to finish in two months. I had a call from their sales team offering me an 18 month cashback deal to run from the end of this contract working out at £5.50 per month after cashback but without a new phone. I accepted over the phone but was told I had 14 days to cancel (haven't received any paperwork confirming deal yet though). Now I'm not sure whether I would have been better going for a new deal altogether which gave me a new phone and cashback and quidco or greasy palm cash as well.

Has anybody had a better deal with a new phone? By the way I'm a very low user and don't ever go over my allowance.

    Thanks

Eeek, I'd double check that if I were you - I have unlimited texts on o2 and my picture messaging always comes out of my 1000 free texts.

I had to check, double check and triple check until I was entirely sure what my unlimited allowance included.. Lol! x
  • First of all what is the number to ring to get these deals?

    Also please answer these questions:

    1) How much are your actual bills roughly a month?
    2) What do you say to get these deals?

It seems to me you only get good deals if you spend quite a lot each month.
My bills are £15 tops every month, and they would not even give me it again, saying the least they could do is £25 a month.

So I have got my PAC CODE now, before I do use it, is it worth me rinigng again and try to get someone better?

    hi,
busy looking into getting an upgrade, bought it via O2 cpw originally, but deciding to go with O2 direct this time.
I am in the last 30 days of my contract, and pay £35 a month for 200 mins, 250 texts. But, I never go over my allowance, do you think they would give me a good phone on around £25-30 a month?
I'm looking at the SE P1i, SE W960i and the more expensive Xda orbit 2. Would like a touchscreen for a sat nav application, and a better than normal calendar/organiser for planning.

Note: I do need a phone, mine got stolen last weekend :(, otherwise i would go for sim only
