I'm miffed. Just phoned O2 to see if I could get a better deal than the one they offered me a month ago. Phone is being cancelled tomorrow so thought they might offer me a good deal to stay, but they said I don't spend enough so can't get what I want.
I asked for 200 mins,
400 text - not really bothered about all those though
free O2 to O2 - not too bothered about that either
on 18month contract
for £10 month and a disc of £100 - £150 for not having a phone.
All they said they could offer was the Simplicity 30 day contract which is
150 mins
300 texts
for £10 a month with no discount
I've turned it down and I'm going to ring again in a bit see if I can get anyone else. That advisor wouldn't budge.
If I can't get a better deal, I'll probably let the cancellation go through, its only my spare phone anyway, so don't really need it.
What's the chance do you reckon of getting a better deal?
But what contract have you been on up until now? If you've only been paying £15 or £20 a month, there's not much chance of a better deal.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

I am due a renewal in the next few weeks. Currently have a cashback redemption deal with DAP. I'm on O2 30, which is 200Min/200Txt for £30 month (get it for £10/month after cashback). I've contacted O2 but its a few days too early to change yet. My question is do they base your options on what they have been charging or your txt/min usage?0

I was o2 simplicity £14.69 for 300mins/600txts with 30day notice for 4months avg around £20 bill a month. I was considering Three where there is currently a 25% off NHS discount.
With o2 retentions I have just got 400mins (+20 from o2 treats), free 02-02 calls, 2000texts (1000 bonus i think offered initially by mistake and then 500+online double 500) and instead of a free phone £150 credit, which works out at £6.67per month over an 18mth contract.
I too wanted the 18mth 200mins/400txts £10 deal with cashback but they would not offer this, even without the cashback despite me asking repeatedly. One operator did however say I could downgrade after 9months.
I am very impressed with o2, because with Virgin i had several bills over £70 on a 30day contract and was not offered anything by retentions!
Hope that helps someone.0 -
allegedly, you need to spend £35 or more per month to get the "good offers"
so whilst my mum is on the £35 tarriff, because of the VAT reduction (and as she doesnt make any "extra" calls or internet useage) they are saying she doesnt qualify for the higher band of discounts
been told this by 2 different advisors.

Hi everyone, looking for some advice about renewing my contract.
My current 18 month contract is about to end. I pay £30 for 200 texts and 400 minutes which is good enough for me really. I'm not fussed about a new phone (although my old Samsung will need replacing soonish I reckon) and I'm happy to pay £30 a month. I've found what I think it is a really good deal from the Carphone Warehouse - £30 a month for unlimited texts and 600 minutes with a Nokia 2630 (which I'd put in a drawer to use as a spare phone) and a free Playstation 3 on a 24 month contract. I'm happy with all that and really want a PS3 so it makes sense to go ahead... Except I can't keep my number. I've had my number since 1998 so don't really don't want to lose it. I know I can transfer it to a free SIM from another provider then back again but that's a hassle.
So basically what I want to know is:
1) Will O2 match the offer (I'm guessing no way!)
2) If I tell them I've got a similar offer from Orange or Vodaphone through the Carphone Warehouse but that I'd like to stick with them would they be willing to port my number across to keep me on their network even though I wouldn't be dealing direct?0 -
1. O2 do not give free gifts.
2. You can't port from an O2 contract to another O2 contract without going pay and go for a while. You'd be better ringing retentions, get a deal without a free phone, might get some cashback as well, and then buy the PS3 with the money you save!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Cant see there being a problem with that. See my post above, as long as its reconditioned (all 02's are reconditions are A1). pushed the Bold on me, and I average £35 a monthTotal - £340.00
