its got to do with what your previous contracts been. i use to be paying £40 a month to o2 (while getting cash back) so i guess they can now put me on a cheap as hell tarriff to retain me, in hope that in the future i change back to a expensive contract.

shes on the same tarrif as me, £35 per month

its weird that in 4 weeks they have slashed the cash back in half and now claim to no longer offer the 100 minute tarriff

You need to be patient! What does it say on the courier (presumably DHL) website? Is it out for delivery? They'll probably not have worked Monday, so it'll take an extra day for them to catch up.

It's in my town with an agent in transit apparently and has been since 9.27am. I'm like a kid...I've no patience.

Well they can deliver right up to 6.00 so it might arrive yet! Although, DHL have a new service now called DHL to your door I think, where they deliver later at night so that people are more likely to be in. Having said that however I doubt O2 would send phones like that as it'd probably be more expensive!

  • Hi everyone,

Stumbled across this forum today...it's very useful - thanks for all the contributions!

My o2 contract is up for renewal (£35pm 600min/500txt although I don't use much of that).

I'm looking at the Nokia 5800 or Sony Ericsson c905 on the same tariff.

I've called retentions a couple of times and have been offered the following:

    600min
    1000text
    unlimited web

    for £25 p/month with the Nokia 5800
    or £30 p/month with the SE c905.

I've seen a few posts with people getting this deal on both of these handsets for £20 - is this still possible? Did anyone who got this deal have to haggle a lot and call a few times?

Maybe my usage is too low - should I hold out for £20 or just accept £25/30?

    Thanks for your advice..
  • You'll have nothing to lose by trying again. Tell them what you want (obviously realistic!) with the offers which other people have got, but I have to say, the deals do seem to have got worse of late!

I mentioned the N96 on another network and was immediately offered the c905 for £20... they dont discount the N96 so the c905 was like a consolation prize!

I'm miffed. Just phoned O2 to see if I could get a better deal than the one they offered me a month ago. Phone is being cancelled tomorrow so thought they might offer me a good deal to stay, but they said I don't spend enough so can't get what I want.

    I asked for 200 mins,
400 text - not really bothered about all those though
free O2 to O2 - not too bothered about that either
    on 18month contract
for £10 month and a disc of £100 - £150 for not having a phone.

All they said they could offer was the Simplicity 30 day contract which is
    150 mins
    300 texts
for £10 a month with no discount

I've turned it down and I'm going to ring again in a bit see if I can get anyone else. That advisor wouldn't budge.

If I can't get a better deal, I'll probably let the cancellation go through, its only my spare phone anyway, so don't really need it.

What's the chance do you reckon of getting a better deal?
