Hoping to keep my current contract at £20/month OR at a push go for the 1200xnet and hopefully 2 boltons (internet and landline calls) at £27. Dunno if it's do-able but I've suddenly become philosophical and going to K.I.S.S.
The line I'm getting from them is that they can't improve on their £10pm offer for 75 minutes/125 texts for 18 months with a £125 cashback. No free bolt-ons possible on this tariff, they say, and that's the best they can do! Or so they say.0 -
sigh.... still not got any delivery of the 5800's today
expecting some in the next few days but they're having problems getting hold of them and were suppose to get them last week.0 -
Is Nokia restricting supply to artificially inflate prices?sigh.... still not got any delivery of the 5800's today

think it's just a very popular phone, more so than they expected. quite a bit cheaper than the iphone and n96 yet many prefer them to the other 2 and in a lot of ways they're better than the iphone0 -
The 5800 is back in stock at o2. Just rang up retentions and got one :j0

Does anyone know when the Sony Ericsson W705 is coming out?
Its like waiting for ages for an alternative to nokia 5800 thats always out of stock.0 -
It's possible for you to get a very good deal on a 12 month contract if you are prepared not to ask for the latest handset out there. The thing that O2 should realise is that some people (myself included) can't budget that far ahead and can only committ to 12 months at a time. Thanks everyone....
I really hate the way everything is 18 and 24 month contracts now so I am resisting as long as I possibly can.... 18 months is far too long for me to keep a phone the way technology moves....
I have seen the Three £25 per month texter and I think that is what i'm going to go for....
Quote to them the T-Mobile Solo 20 SIM only deal as the deal you are thinking of leaving them for, and see what they say, after all 12 months guaranteed money is better than just a month.0 -
Thanks for the heads-up, jonnypb!
I've been with O2 for years, currently on a rather old £25 online tariff with a SE K850i, and was overdue an upgrade. The mobiles available on O2's online upgrade webpage are not that great, so I called the upgrade line a couple of times looking in particular for a Nokia 5800, but they were out of stock. Advice was just to keep calling them.
Seeing jonnypb's post, I just rang O2 retentions instead and got a pretty OK deal (I think):
Nokia 5800
£20 per month, 18 month contract
600 minutes
1000 texts
Free web bolt-on
I first mentioned the £25 deals that T-Mobile and Vodafone have, and then the fact that I had seen £20 deals on this thread. There might be cheaper out there but I'm happy. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and friendly too.
Cheers

Bummer
They were very busy when I phoned; I guess it could even be sheer volume of calls.
I think this seems to require luck as much as persistence.
Good luck!0
