  • Fantastic thread!

I was after the Blackberry Bold simply because it could do so much. Finally spent some time with my brothers Bold and I realised it's not for me... yet!

I can see why it's such a winner. Great screen, trackball is great after a few seconds of finding its 'sensitivity'. Quick (not like my old N70). Packed full of so many features. I just felt it wasn't for me, too serious and well, business-like!

So, it's back to the drawing board for me. I think I'll keep my current tariff but I would like a new phone.

Should I set up a new thread to discuss my phone needs and get suggestions or post it here? I don't wanna distract from the business of retentions (after all it is the 'retentions thread') LOL!

My wife's phone contract with O2 expires this month. We usually go for a cashback deal but given the current state of the economy and uncertainties over different companies long term viability I thought maybe she should try a retention deal. I'm sure this is a blindingly obvious question - but I'll ask it anyway. What number does she need to ring?

Got online 35 for £20 a month for 18 months with free nokia 5800

Also, how soon after joining simplicity is someone likely to be getting upgrades?

Yet again I was told today by O2 it is out of stock and "call back next monday, thats what the system is now saying" . I think this is the fourth, or maybe even fifth consecutive Monday I've been told to call again pending stock :(

    RESULT!!!!!!!

Just rang the broadband retention team, and as my 12 month contract with them was up on the 7th Feb,I told them that I had just updated my phone for another 18 months, and he gave me broadband free for 12 months.

    So just to recap.......

    Nokia 5800
    3000 x net minutes
Free weekend calls on top of my 3000 mins, any network
    Web bolt on
    1000 texts
    Free home broadband

Taking all that into consideration,it will work out at about £37pm.Persistance pays off.

    One happy bunny.

202 from her 02 phone, and then follow the menu options,to the "If your thinking of leaving 02."

Well I called this morning explaining that my retention deal was coming up. Got offered

    C905 free at £45 a month and 40% off = £27 or
    N95 free at £35 a month and 40% off = £21.

Went for the N95 as it more than suits my requirements.

The chap I spoke to was very polite and helpfull and very little actual negotiation took place. I politely asked what my best offer could be and he offered me the above.

I have to say that 02 seem to bending over backwards to help people at the moment, given the current economic climate, and more power to them.

The way I look at it is,everyones a winner.

Individuals for getting the package they want, and 02 as it means they are still making money by keeping people on board.

When I took out my retention deal at the start of Feb I politely declined the broadband as I am living in Halls at the minute - do you think I could phone up and ask if they could give me the free broadband in 6 months when I move into my new house (which needs broadband!)?
Big ask I know, but I want to know if there's any of you that work at O2 whether you can 'defer' a free broadband 'subscription'?
    Cheers, Mark

you could ring them and take the takeaway broadband in a box, they will charge you £30 on your next bill then the 12mnth subscription doesn't start until you phone up to activate it, at which time you will get your £30 credited back when you do eventually call up. send me a pm to discuss further if you like ;)

You should be able to get the Blackberry 8900 (if it's one your interested in), for:

£20 per month 18 month contract
    600 mins
    1000 texts
    Free Blackberry Unlimited internet

and they also can give you free 12 months O2 broadband
