    I got

    Blackberry 8900 Curve
    600 minutes
    1000 texts
Unlimited Blackberry data bolt on (for email and internet)
    £20 / month on 18 month contract.

I went for the 8900 as the camera was 3.2mp where as the Bold is a 2mp.

I phoned retentions a couple nights ago and was offered the same Blackberry 8900 Curve deal straightaway without even threatening to leave

Going to have a look at the phone in my local o2 shop later before i decide

Was looking at the Bold but size wise its a bit too big, the curve is smaller and slimmer

    Hi,

Whas it on the same monthly tariff as the OP @ £20 per month?

I can upgrade in 5 days time and would like this phone.
Got a 12 month deal at the mo so I wonder if I can get the same monthly deal @ £20 for 12 months and willing to pay up to £50 for the handset!

    hmm 5 days to go...
  • Sorry, not too sure what OP means?

A blackberry should last 18 months without a problem

Personally i wouldnt go for a 12 month contract and pay towards the phone but each to their own

Best thing to do is check reviews of the phone online on a site like cnet before you decide for sure

  • I am 100% sure of getting the 8900 curve and have been reviewing this model since it came out.
A good review site is www.crackberry.com which I frequent almost daily!

I've always had a 12 month contract and going to 18 just seems that little bit to much mind you in Germany all they have are 24 month contracts!

OP means Original Poster by the way :)

I wonder when I phone up in 5 days time and hopefully get offered the £20 deal I wonder if I could say to them that I wish to add another account and then get the same deal one for me and the other 8900 for the wife, then port her number over in a couple of weeks when her contract runs out in March from Orange.
So I'd have 2 mobiles on my account for £20 per month each!

I wonder if that will work?!

    cheers now
  • After reading this forum I advised my friend to call o2 and ask for his pac code this is the deal he got from them.

    Nokia N95 8gb free
    600 minutes
    1200 texts
    unlimited internet
    free bluetooth headset

All for £20.00 per month on 18 month contract

Needless to say he is happy.
  • Ahh OP = orginal Post, Il bear that abbreviation in mind for next time!

Not too sure if you can do that as your partner will be classed as a new customer so it wouldnt be a retention but a new contract, best to ask o2 direct and see what they say?

Into the last of my 18 months with 02,and currently have the following:

    1200 x net mins
Long weekends Sat/Sun/Mon free mins to any mobile or direct landline
    1000 texts
    Samsung G600
    £50pm.

And this is what they have offered me:

    3000 x net mins
Sat/Sun free mins to any mobile or direct landline
    1000 texts
Free data (No downloading but thats fine.)
    Nokia 6600 slide
    £45pm for 18 months.

They reckon I'm currently using approx 1800 mins a month, all in,with my current allowances.

So is it a good deal?
That's my mutt in the picture above.

Not at all. You can get a 3000 mins / 3000 texts per month (albeit with a low end phone) on a twelve month deal for £35 with T-Mobile. I'd at least try and get them down to £35 a month with a mid range phone- you are spending a great deal per month after all:)!

And the funny thing is,the wife and 2 daughters are on 02,and we have 02 broadband as well,so you would think they could have done better really.

But if they were to chuck in a new bluetooth headset, and a mobile broadband dongle foc,I might be tempted,as they would also get me on payg mobile broadband on my laptop.

  • just thought I should come back and give some update

was on a 18 month £35/month deal which will end in march

    called the retentions today

offered the Online 75 tariff 3000 mins 1000txts and free SE X1
    40% discount ,so £45/month
    unlimited web bolt on
and free Home broadband for next 18 months (saves another £132)

I know it's a high tariff, but need atleast 2000 mins, so for my needs this looks like a good deal.

    hope this helps someone here
