Any rumors on an Iphone PAYG price drop ? Trying to think whether I should wait for the price to drop or get PAYG now.

The iphone is selling well why would they reduce it? There isn't much in the way of competition to it.

Bear in mind that it may be cheaper to get Pay Monthly if you use it a lot

PAYT needs topping up by a minimum of £10 a month to retain the free texts, add that to a 8GB phone and your looking at £462.50 for a 12 month PAYT "contract". If you want the Internet (both in GPRS and Wifi) After 12 months thats £10 a month extra.
To make the comparison fair that means 18 months will cost you £582 (although you can dump o2 after month 12 paying just the £462)

The same phone on a contract will be £637 for 18 months on the lowest tarrif, so your not exactly saving much on PAYT. Just £50

My contract is up for renewal next week. Orginally has 200min /200 text @ £30 a month with cashback via dialaphone , meaning effectively £10 a month

    Yesterday was offered:

Sony Ericcsion W890i (or £150 credit if dont take the phone) on an 18month contract:

    200mins
    400txt
    unlimited 02 to 02 calls

    for £10 a month

Currently have a Samsung U600 and think will stick to it

I have a simplicity SIM (600 mins 1000 txts and unlimited data). I detest signing up to contracts now, so I was thinking of getting it on PAYG, but Im convinced they will reduce the price sometime after xmas so dont want to buy now. I'll probably get a W890i as a stop gap in the meantime.

Fair enough, however the blurb says you can't swap the sim card ie to put that simplicity sim onto the Iphone, you need to keep on the PAYT sim and need to keep topping it up. If they detect a swapped sim (and if they even bother to check is another matter) they can / will cancel the account.

Why they do it I don't know, it's no different to a contract the way they have set the tarrif out.

Seen this deal at E2save and thought it was pretty good.

    Free Blackberry Bold 9000 Clearance
    02 600 minutes
    02 500 txts
    Unlimited blackberry internet and email
    £35 per month (18month contract)
    6 months 1.99 by redemption
Effective Cost per month £24.00, Saving £198.06

I am currently with O2 Just now and its time for my upgrade, when calling them directly they wouldnt match this.

I called E2Save directly as I used them last year and they increased the cashback to £250.00 as I was an upgrade customer, but I will loose out on the potential quidco.

didnt knowthey could cancel if they wanted to. I've ordered a PAYG W890i in the meantime and will worry about Iphone in a few months time. I find that the IPhone is missing a good few features which you can find on most other phones so its not worth the asking price right now. Happy with W890 on SImplicity for the moment....

Just rang up as contract expires in 28 days time. Got offered new phone (didnt say which one though) and I think he said 500mins/800 texts for £20 per month. Half wishing I hadn't took out contract with T-mobile now but then again got £150 for the phone I sold and got £200 credit per month and OH has the Google phone. Never mind.
  • hope this helps someone here

    was on a £35/month 12 month deal.

called retentions, got a deal on Blackberry 900 bold 18 months 23.50/month( £35/month in the website)
600 mins and 1000 txts plus free O2-O2 calls plus blackberry unlimited web
i guess this is a good deal, but not sure as the new 8900 is on it's way shortly

i have taken this deal as it suits my needs and thought someone here who is nearing their upgrade would benefit from this info
