Did they tell you that you would be getting a refurb ? I personally wouldn't have accepted it and asked them to collect it.

I'm assuming that you've put you sim into the phone so the 7 days no quibble phone return is out of the question but I would still phone up 3 and complain that you have a faulty phone and ask them to sort it out.

oh crap never got a callback and my contract has changed to payg today. anyone know of the cheapest monthy line rental deals around.

Sorry for that bindiboo ... but there is nothing to lose (except for your line number). The cheapest deals are still with 3 and you can buy a new deal from their website (cheaper if you go through quidco ... take that as your discount - between 32.50 to 62.50 depending upon the deal you choose).

3 are currently giving 1100 XNet mins for £20 with Nokia 6500 or SE 660i free... and this looks like a good deal ... if you need so many mins.

if its under 14 days old you will get a one time swap out, they did it with my viewty, the bluetooth was dead so had a like for like swap

Just been reading this and I had been planning to do the old cancel and wait plan but I think I may have come up against a problem.

Annoyingly my phone got stolen last night, so whereas getting in touch with 3 is not a problem (girlfriends mobile is 3), if i give my 30 days i'm guessing they wont have a number to call me back on as I don't have a sim card. I only have like a month or so left as well on my second contract.

Can anyone think of a way around just taking one of the initial offers they give? Best so far was 750min 150txt plus download and mms/video nonsense for £30 with N95 8GB for £70.

after reading some of the comments that i have read on this thread. I thought i would contact 3, even though my contract doesnt end until 25th August 2008. I went through to the retentions department and asked how much time do i have to give to cancel my contract.(not really intending to cancel at the moment). He said it was 30 days. He then said, because you have been a good customer we can offer you the following. he offered me 6500 slide 500 mix and match and 300 3 to 3 mins for £18.00. I said i wanted either a n95 or k850i, he said he wouldnt be able to do a n95, as i wanted to pay only around £18.00 a month. however, he would be able to give me for £22.00 with k850i. I said it was too expensive. Then he gave me all the usual rubbish that they are the most competitve in the market.

So i decided i'll leave the offer and just wait closer to my end of the contract and give my notice in and see what they offer.

My contract ends the same time as yours (roughly) and im after the same phone (n95) or a w910i SE so we shall have to keep each other updated on who gets what !!

Although im only willing to pay what i am at the moment, £15 so not expecting great offers ,

yeah lets keep each other updated. Yeah me too, as i said to the guy im not paying more than i am now. so we will see.

Dont hold your breath if your contract is due to expire at the end of August! You might be lucky within the last 2 or 3 days before its due to terminate if you want the latest handset for less than £15 a month but you definately wont get these sort of deals if you ring them up, let them contact you.

My contract is due to expire on the 22nd May and all i've been offered is the nokia 6500, 800 mix/match units for a tenner a month. I am looking to save a bit of money and i already have a decent handset (W850i) so ideally i am looking to get either the latest handset on a refurb for less than £12.50 a month, or the £5 a month for life with no handset deal. If not then I will probably accept the Nokia 6500 deal, keep my current handset and sell the new one on ebay. I'll post back if i get different offers this week

my contract expires August, currently I am on and VTT 700. I was most surprised as I was offered same price plan again + handset or one of them mix and match. I was under the impression 3 stopped VTT.

As for the handset I was disappointed to say the least. Felt slightly pushed towards a Nokia 6500 which I dont want and I said that 3 times. The phones I wanted (E65 or N95) were currently out of stock and alternative offers were rather poor. Any decent handsets been offered recently?
