That way, you keep your number should you require it.
Thats what I did. They will give you the 'but it cost so much to regularly top up' etc etc - but dont give in. Stand firm.
And they will be desperate to keep you.
Hope that helps
thank matey
i'll give them a call later and request PAYG
Cheers0 -
Called them back asking to go on PAYG and got the usual - "Its expensive blah blah and lets see what i can do for you"
Then offered me a similair deal - ie
300 Min
150 text
25 MMS
25 Video msg
£5 download
Nokia N73
All for £20 per month.
I know they can do better so have asked to cancel my contract and convert to PAYG.
Right then - lets wait for that call...0 -
I think this is the best three have offered me to stay.
18 Month contract the first 17 months are free and only pay £18 on the 18th month and for that I get...
500 cross net minutes
100 texts
I didn't think it was bad at only £1 per month.0 -
So say i give my notice and that 'call' doesn't come - will i be able to ring up and take what ever offer they give me? OR will i have to cancel?
I've just given them notice to cancel on the anniversary of my account opening (has to be the exact date as I'm on cashback at the moment). I've got a 6280 on Video & Talk & Text 700 + free Internet 30 (12 months), and never get close to using all the allowance or any significant extras. They offered me what I think they offered when calling me weeks ago: 6288 + 500 mins + 100 text + 6288 for £15pm - don't know length of contract.
When I asked about no handset, I was offered 300m + 150t + 25 video + 25 multimedia + £5 download for £5 a month (again contract length not known). He didn't offer me any deals on internet access so I was interested to read about this from Darren21 and jazzyjeff - seem pretty good to me. I guess I should follow the advice to wait for them to call me. It's not a disaster if I have to change my number.
Note that if you ask for a PAC and it expires, your contract continues and you'll need to give them another 30 days' notice, i.e. you can't get a PAC and give 30 days' notice at the same time. At least that's how I understood it from what he told me.
Funny how there is so little information about the cancellation procedure on Three's website - or it's sufficiently buried that I haven't been able to find it!Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
The internet is because when I took out my contract a year ago they were giving 30mb free internet for life so I keep it as renewing my contract, its not something they are giving me extra now. I did ask them to confirm this and they said yes I would still get the 30mb internet
So I think you should get it too...0 -
How interesting - my contract started in August when they were offering this free internet. Didn't read anything about it being for life, but they also told me I wouldn't get it at all as I didn't get the phone from Three directly (but via a cashback deal).Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

They gave me a few offers like 6 months half price on a 12 month i refused all of them and got a call and was offered 12 months free ......
The idea is to never give in ...0 -
Just to let you know you won't get the free internet 30 after all, it was taken off my account and after an hour of arguing that I was told I'd still get it I finally relented and guess what I got as compensation - £5, and now I'll be paying an extra £5 a month for the 1gb of data, thanks a bunch!
Still overall the deal is very good, annoyed at them lying that I'd keep my data though :mad:0 -
Count me in for this game too. Three have phoned me a few times already to offer me 300 mins + whatever no. of texts, etc for £5/month. The conversation practically descended into a full-blown argument as the guy told me I was the only person he'd ever phoned to have turned down such a good offer and that the offer expired after that day! I told him I'd take my chances!
I now know, thanks to this thread, they can do a lot better! So I'll be giving them 30 days notice soon.
Going to try to hang on until the very last minute, ask for the Nokia N95 (if they've released it on Three by then) and a contract I can't refuse - best they've offered with a decent upgrade so far was £21/month.Started comping for 2012. Won: iPad 2 - thanks SueMaggie; 10,000 Tesco Clubcard Points - thanks Maybe1; HABA Terra Kids Construction Set - thanks purplevamp.:beer:0 -
Hi
I phoned up 3 retentions today and asked for my PAC. The fella offered me 300 mins and 100 txts for £5 but that is it , then he gave me the number. Does anyone know if it is too late for me to ring back and ask for the number to be changed to PAYG instead? By the time I have paid this extra month of line rental @ £35 and the £15 to get my 6280 unlocked, maybe I should have taken him up on the offer, it would probably work out cheaper.
The phone I want is the Samsung U600, does anyone know if 3 have this as one of their available handsets? It would also be great to hear of any line rental deals that have been made with this phone if possible!!
Thanks for any help
