3 offered me £522 credit and 500xnet/100txt for an 18month contract at £30/month essentially making it 17months free and 18pound for the last month. Pretty good deal, so i accepted.

    Hi

Been with Three for around 3 years and my contract expires 16th August. I rang a couple of days ago and to put in the 30 day notice. I want to stay with 3 "direct" and not bother with cash back deals elsewhere. I do need another handset as mine is faulty. The best they could offer me is a phone and £20/ month (500 min and texts which is what I need). I put the 30 day notice a few days ago, hoping they would ring back with a better deal. Today I rang again asking for it to be a payg after it expires (also hoping they would give me a decent deal and I would get this over and done with) but again they only offered the same deal (£20/month).

I do need the minutes and a new handset - I hear people (a lot from this forum) getting excellent deals, is there a way of getting better deals? or will I have to go through the hassle of purchasing a cash back deal and then go through porting the number???

    Please help

I did say I am looking at other deals and possibly going to o2 (thinking that will help) - but still was offered £20/month. Maybe I need to wait a bit longer - cannot think why they are not offering me a much better deal, having been with them for around 3 years and obviously already paid via direct debit.

Anyone any idea how long a phone takes before it is available to upgrades?

I rather like the look of the new Nokia 6120 as advertised on the website. Unfortunately retentions had never heard of it and could only suggest I call back in a few days when their system had been updated.

I have a a while before my PAC expires but I rather liked the look of this phone combined with the X-series tariff. Hopefully they'll get it in soon and can offer me a deal.

Additionally does anyone know if 3 conduct a price match scheme? this for non cashback +or cashback deals.??

I could be wrong but I doubt they will offer you much better than that, 500 minutes and 500 texts is an expensive tariff and you are also getting a free phone. The best deals are usually without a phone, you could try seeing what they'd offer and look into buying a phone off ebay?

Other than that your best bet would be finding a cash back deal.

Thanks - I am beginning to think like that also, that I will need to but a 3 g phone from ebay. I did ring Three - and without the handset, they are doing 300 minutes/100 texts for £3 ish/month (after some credits) or 500 minutes / 100 test for £7.50 month. Strange how all this mobile system has changed over the year, nowadays Three seem reluntant to give you a new handset and firstly offer without handset prices.

Thre best tariffs that three are doing retentions deals with (as far as i am concerned) is:

    1) 500mins & 100txt for 18mths at £18 for the term.
    2) 400mins, 250txt, 25vidmin, 25mms & £5download for 18mths at £35 for the term.

Deal no 2 gives a credit of an awesome £595!

If you have asked for the phone to be cancelled...just wait a week or two and Im sure they will ring you and ask you if you want the deal.

You are much better off taking this kind of deal and getting a phone off ebay than getting a deal with a phone. If you take deal one which is what they were gonna give you for £20 a month and buy a phone for £180 then the deal will effectively only cost you £11 a month and avoid all cashback worries.

If you want a phone the deals are no where near as good, but for the amount you are saving with a sim only deal you cant go wrong.

And if you are thinking of getting another cashback deal elsewhere, why dont you get both.
