I was due an upgrade after being on a sim only deal for 12m. Spoke to a lovely man and after a bit of dealing I got offered the ultimate internet 500 for £15, which included a new htc desire c. Maybe not the best phone out there but I haven't had a smartphone before so I'm happy with it. I get 500 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data. Pretty happy :)

I got the following retention deal 12 months ago, which is nearly coming to an end:

    500 mins, 3GB data, lots of texts. - £10/month (sim-only)

Have got a PAC and tried to get a better deal, but the best I can get seems to be:

300 mins, 250MB data, lots of texts - £7 (or £10 with AYCE data) and a free rubbish phone
500 mins, 250MB data, lots of texts - £8 (or £11 with AYCE data) and a free rubbish phone

Any hope of getting a better offer?!

250MB is nowhere near enough for me, but its tempting with the AYCE data, except for the fact both of those would be 24 month contracts.

My current allowances are more than enough, just thinking that AYCE data might be useful in the future, especially if/when 4G becomes available (already have a suitable phone), so I could be patient and continue with my current tariff on a non-contract basis.

    Any thoughts?

Been with Three the past 23 months with a £20 p/m HTC Wildfire S contract - over those months it's gradually increased to £23-ish as I added AYCE data and then there was a price rise not too long ago. As I'm looking to cut back on spending, I have decided that I would prefer a sim only deal...

My contract ends 30 days from today so spent the last 30 minutes or so sat outside (because that's the only place I can get a good enough signal, lucky it was a nice day!) dealing with cancelling my Three contract.

Was set on leaving them anyway because of the coverage issues I have indoors; they did offer me a 'box' that would boost this signal but that would have involved signing another 24-month contract and I had to have a new handset to go with it. Because I've recently bought myself a Nexus 4 outright, I had no need for a new handset contract and am moving to a Sim Only contract.

So my first offer I had was for £6.90 a month - that included 300 3-to-3 minutes, 200 any network, 5000 texts and 500MB of data. Not a bad offer admittedly but, as I say, I was looking to get off the network so whatever they offered me I wasn't going to take it.

I continued to ask for my PAC code so was eventually transferred to their cancellations department. He again was trying to flog me another contract but I was having none of it - offered me a Samsung Galaxy Ace with 500 mins, 5000 texts and 250mb data for £8. Again, said I had no intention of renewing my contract so he put through the PAC request and cancellation of the contract in July. Surprised he didn't seem as pushy as most salespeople can be.

PAC code came through about 30 minutes after I got off the phone so now I'm off to find a Sim Only deal that'll save me a fair chunk of money every month.

As my earlier post said, I am soon to be finishing my contact with 3 and will be requesting my pac early next week. Am going to Giffgaff with their £7.50 p/m deal.
I was going to get a Nexus 4 as well, but recently I have seen the Galaxy S3 (The handset I was originally going to get) for £319 sim free from Asda. That is only about £30 more than it would cost for the Nexus, and the S3 has the possibility for expandable memory, removable battery, larger screen etc. So I am back on the S3 trail again. Granted the Nexus does get the android updates first, but I am not overly concerned about that.
The bottom line is it's a tough call between both handsets as they are so similar. Might be a case of einey-meiney-miney-mo!!!!!

I've got 2 contracts with three both on The One Plan. One Of my phones was accidentally damaged yesterday 18 mths into a 24 mth contract.
I contacted three and was told I could either buy a PAYG phone from them or pay the existing contract then upgrade. When I refused they put me through to their sales team and I was offered the Samsung Galaxy Ace on a 24 month contract for £16 per mth with 300 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data. I agreed to that but I'm having second thoughts. Should I have pushed for a better deal?

Just to clarify that's a third contract, I'm still paying £27 per month for the broken phone and £23 per month for my daughters phone.
I could have got the iphone 4 for £22 per month with 500 mins but that's not much of a discount either!

That phone is poor. Did you have to pay an upgrade fee as well as you were changing your contract before the usual '3 months before'?

Better off to buy a cheapo 3 or unlocked phone from ebay and use that instead imo.

No I didn't have to pay the upgrade fee because I'm still paying the other contract. I had intended to cancel the other contract(for the broken phone) in six months time and keep the new one. I'm not sure now, maybe I should just phone back and cancel the new contract.
I was hoping that as a loyal customer of 5 years and with 2 expensive contracts they might have waived the early upgrade fee.

If it was me and I broke one of my phones, I would just buy a cheap(ish) replacement rather than take out another contract as now you have 3 contracts but only a need for 2 phones?

I know, I did consider that but I've not been able to see any cheap 3 handsets or unlocked handsets with internet. They offered me a basic payg handset for £50 but I need to be able to access internet and I'm paying for unlimited data on my current contract.
