3 Retention Deals

It just becomes a game of attriction, if you really want the deal keep at them, ring every day and wear them down, dont let them wear you down.
Stay nice as it wont help to lose your cool and you will get someone eventually who will see sense.
Good luck.I'd like to teach the World to sing in perfect Harmony:j

I currently pay for three One Plan phones, mine and 2 other family members (2 have £10 discount, one is full price). My contract expires at the end of June, so have been checking online and their upgrade deals are rubbish.
I was trying to get 3 to match Tesco's offer of Iphone 4s (500 mins/5000 text/ unltd data) for £20 + £49 up-front. They would only offer a 4 for that amount! But they have now offered a Iphone 5 on the same tariff for £26 per month + £99 up-front (it's £36 p m + £49 on their upgrade web page).
Now I'm in a bit of a quandry as the Samsung S4 deal looks great and I love my current S1, it's just got so slow and buggy it's virtually unusable. My kids have all said the Iphones are fast and reliable...but I will miss my Swype!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
... so it turns out they can give me a new htc c with 300 min, 5000 texts and 250 mb for £9/mth. Just one small snag - i have to take a new contract ( no problem ) with a NEW phone number. I would not be allowed to keep my existing one, once i get the new number i can change it to anything i want. anything except my old number. if i want my number i have to pay £16 a month.
I really wanted just to leave but the wife needs a new phone so I'll put an Ovivio SIM in it then we are both up and running for just £9 month.
Plus it's a small price to pay for not having to deal with CS0 -
Anyone got a decent deal on the HTC One?
My contract ends next month and I called up and asked what they could do but was offered nothing better. Called up to cancel today and the first person I spoke to, and the final cancellation person both again offered no better deal on the One. So I got my PAC code.
All I was offered were sim only deals that were no better than what I can get elsewhere.0 -
I've been a 3 customer for 10 years now and currently run 2 contracts, both on the One Plan. A Sony Experia Arc and a Galaxy S2. When I renewed my last contract I got the above phones for £25/month each - both have about £9 loyalty discount applied each month.
Both phones are now up for upgrade so I called 3 this week looking to do the first upgrade on the S2 to upgrade to an S4 and was somewhat disappointed when I was offered exactly what a new customer gets - £37/month with a £49 up-front cost and it was the same situation if I wanted to go SIM only. After having to spend about 10 mins talking to upgrades, I eventually was put through to cancellations as I just wanted my PAC code.
Cancellations (or as they probably should be known - retentions), then offered me the S$ for the £37/month with no up-front cost, which I refused and a SIM only deal that was similar to the One Plan but only had 2Gb data for £14/month. Anyway, after getting quite irritated I got my first PAC code.
I would be happy if they just transferred my loyalty discount, but they don't seem to be able to do that which begs the question, is there really any point in showing any loyalty to 3?
Come next week, I will be calling again to request the PAC code for the other phone, but am dreading having to go through the rigmarole of dealing with their call centres abroad. Is there any way to get through to a Cancellation/Retention team in the UK? I had been hoping to get a nice deal for an S4 and a Note 2 for the other half, but after the call this week, I don't think I will be holding my breath.0 -

Three is a good network. But their retention team don't do retention deals anymore. It's better to just sign up as a new customer through a third party.0 -
I am in a similar situation where my contract is up in a few weeks. I have been doing my homework for a couple of months now and have read some real horror stories about the lousy way 3 customers are treated when trying to sign up again.
I have been with 3 for a number of years and have 4 contracts with them, but it is my turn to upgrade this time. However A friend of mine recently showed me his Google Nexus 4 handset and it looked excellent. I was originally looking at the S3, but having seen the Nexus 4 up close and personal I may go for that. I know that 3 retentions will be calling me soon trying to get me to sign up again, but as I am a very light user, I don't think they will be able to give me a deal that I am happy with. My friend with the Nexus 4 is on Giffgaff and I like the fact that you can adjust your tariff to your usage on a monthly basis. No more being tied in to a 2 year contract. Totally flexible and the tariff that fits my usage is only £7.50 per month. Yes, you have to buy the handset upfront, but that isn't a problem for me. I have crunched the numbers and if I bought a Nexus 4 16gig handset (£280) and went onto the Giffgaff £7.50 per month tariff. Over 24 months that would come out at £180 + the handset £280 comes in at £460 over 24 months or £19.17 p/m. Not a bad cost for a top of the range phone, and you are not tied in.0 -
3 do not do retention deals any more. Only the standard 'last chance' offer after you ask for your PAC.
In a way I can see why they have done this and it is a bold move but the only way to get a good deal at the moment is to PAC away from them and then sign up again as a new customer via quidco, whoever and PAC in again.0 -
well, well. in the end i got away from 3 and moved to o2. i got my final statement from them today and i am in credit. but instead of refunding it automatically, i have phone them and request it! Its not like they dont know my bank details, I paid by dd for the 7 years or so i was with them.
I thought we had got past this stupid situation of a company holding MY money on a closed account and ME having to ask them to send it to me. Obviously not2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0
