Not really, just the standard retention deals on low end handsets that everyone else gets. They wouldn't budge on pricing for any high end phone/one plan phone. They wouldn't change any sim only pricing, and they wouldn't apply any bill credits above £10.

In the end went for the Desire C on Ultimate 500 for £11pm which is still a good deal. Although retentions are doing it for £13pm/£15pm now so no one can get that deal again now.

My personal line is up in a couple of weeks as well and i'm paying £12.50pm for the One Plan at the moment and i'm not that optimistic that they'll offer me anything based on the last experiences i and many others have had.

Trying to negotiate my plan at the moment, they've definitely stiffened up with the deals they give. I've been looking at the other Network's Retentions threads, and thinking of jumping ship to T-Mobile since my sister always gets a good renewal.

Currently, I have the BB Bold 9700 (Hate it! Really want the HTC One) on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan @ £20 p/m from about 2 years ago? I've been out of contract since last September.

During my first call with them, I explained that these cashback sites (Dialaphone, affordable mobiles, both of which I have used before) were offering the HTC One for about £26 on roughly the same plan as I am on now, but the guy would not budge. I explained that as my sister pays for the plan (she does), going from £20 to £35 was not a viable option for either of us. After explaining this all, he still tried to sell me the Samsung Galaxy S4 on the One plan for £37, and I was giggling at how I had tried to explain that £35 was too much and now £37?!

I guess I'll wait a month or two before I finally leave 3 so the HTC will be more available. After about 11 years of service from them, you'd expect more than a £10 credit on the account, new rules or not.

On a side note, he kept saying that if I cancel, I'd have to give 30 days notice, and give an extra month of what I'm paying now (£20), how could I avoid this when I do cancel?

    Thanks in advance!

You are never, ever going to get anything from Three on your first phone call-just accept that it is part of the process. Try to get it over with as quickly as you can. If you finish the call without getting them to accept your request of your PAC or 30 days notice, which is the only single aim of the first phone call, you've wasted your time.

After a lifetime of calls to 3 I have my three contracts sorted but I am not happy...
Phone 1 (mine) is staying with 3 on a cracking deal on an HTC windows phone.
Phone 2(son) got PAC code and went to T-mobile for a better deal and a phone 3 didn't have
Phone 3 (daughter) I missed the 30 day deadline by 2 days, phones up and I have now got to pay May's charges for a phone we don't use! They phoned me yesterday and offered me a SIM only deal with loads of texts and mins for £9.90 (cheaper than my £20 per month). Thing is I don't need the phone!!

My question is...is there a cheaper way of getting out of Phone 3's deal??

    Thank for your replies

Do you mind stating exactly what the deals you got are? Because the windows phone and £9.90 one all sound like standard price to me. Thus backing up the fact that retention deals are now only on low end handsets and Three no longer discount sim only or high end/one plan handsets/

    I'm guessing you got a HTC 8X @ £23pm or £26pm
And the sim only was for 600 mins/unl texts/1GB data for £9.90 on a 12 month contract.

If those are correct^ then i can safely say you were offered standard price.

Ditto, It would be helpful to see what you have managed to get, if it's no better than what's been quoted already.

Did you manage to get anything from them? Or have you cancelled already?

I phoned last Thurday, still to get my first call back, got till 27th before they cut me off. last time, 2 years ago, I waited till about a week before my termination date and then i phoned them, requested my PAC, saying I had now found an alternative provider and wanted to migrate my number to them. That's when the guy on the phone said he was from the retentions dept - don't know if i was put straight through to him because they knew I was leaving anyway - and got what i wanted. So I'll wait and see what they phone back with first. I'll let you know if they even phone back this time!
