If you buy the phone sim free then the warranty is with the manufacturer.

If you buy it on contract then (in theory) the warranty is with the provider although you can also go direct to the manufacturer instead.

    thanks for the feedbacks

Same as my reply above although I would not buy it from 3 as they will have applied branding to ROM and locked it to 3.

A proper sim free one will have no carrier branding and be unlocked and probably cost less than buying it from 3.

Also you get updates straight from Samsung rather than having to wait for Three to tweak/brand it.

It's rare to get get a deal on an iphone, unless it's an older model that they want to shift to make room for new stock.

The prices are set by Apple and network providers have little room to manouver.

Also the 13 years is irrelvant, how much they want to keep you as a customer, is based on how MUCH you have made them during your current contract, not how LONG you have been with them.

As someone has said, ask for your pac and hope the retentions team calls you back, but I wouldn't hold out much hope on getting a stonking deal on an iphone5.

    Hi Lottie

Thanks but I've already decided to go SIM only 1 month rolling contract for now, which halves my bill and I can wait a few months for the iphone 5 or 4s prices to come down. I'm not desperate for an iphone 5, I just thought since my contract is up I may aswell try and get a deal. There is nothing wrong with my current phone so this is fine for now.

    Hi,
I too am going through alot of what people have said here with regards to renewing my 3 phone contract. My contract is up in about a month and the girl who I talked to too said to wait before immediately moving to a different company in case they have any good deals in the next few weeks. I suspect not to be honest but you never know.

Anyway I don't know if this has been posted before but I saw this today on https://www.moneysupermarket.com
Free Samsung Galaxy 3, 300 mins, Unlimted text, 500Mb data, 24 month contract for £22 a month from Tesco (not cashback as I'm dubious about those)
It uses O2's 300 Internet All Rounder tariff which is weird because on the O2 website they want to charge you £279 for the SG3 on this contract!
Anyway I don't think Three will be able to match this so I'll revisit next month and go for it if they can't.
    cheers.

Dont forget to call them up 30 days before the contract end otherwise you will be charged an extra month.

After the end of the 24 months it becomes a 30 day rolling contract so if you are not sure you will swap, ask for it to be changed to a SIM only deal.

This is my 3rd time renegotiating with 3. Both times before I've got what I wanted after about 3 call backs. I've still got my trusty HTC Desire from my last upgrade 2 years ago, I called up yesterday to ask for the S3 4g enabled on the one plan for £25 a month, then said I would accept sim only one plan for £12 a month. She told me not a chance - of course - I'd be better waiting to see what special offers would be available on the S3 in the next few months due to the S4 coming out. I said no thanks and gave my 30 days notice to cancel my contract, eventually she relented but this time it took a lot, lot longer than it has in the past - she was really not for budging. I'm an old hand at this now though! It will be interesting to find out if they are a lot tougher these days with discounts, as they've always caved in eventually before. I'm also with talktalk and my broadband speeds on my landline are really slow, so I want to use the one plan for tethering on 4g. We'll see........
