Yes i agree they would have the same scripts but at least i wouldn't have the added rubbish which comes with foreign call centres.

They were constantly talking over me, i was struggling to understand them and when i could understand them, they were very patronising!

3 only have the foreign call centres to save money, and in return, we get very very poor customer services. end of!

Last month I called about the Galaxy S3, Indian man tells me to call back on the 14th of June as this is when i can have my upgrade and get the best deal for that phone from the upgrades department.

i call today and they tell me....
    "special offer sir"
    "amazing deals Mr.Neil"
"no where can you get this deal"
"samsung S3 on One Plan for £34 a month!!!!"
    "only for upgrading customers"
    "amazing sir"

    my reply ..............
"that deals is a standard deal on your website for any new customers, i have the website open right now and i am looking at that deal as i speak to you"

    Their reply....
    "No you don't"

I cancelled my contract (which wasn't easy) this week and the next day got a call back from Three to "discuss my final bill".

By this, they actually meant that they'd try to persuade me to stay with them. I got told again how greatly they valued my seven years of custom and that for this call only I could have the Samsung Galaxy S3 for what was the same price as a new customer would pay (minus any cashback).

I then got offered £8/month for the Internet Talker 500 package with a free phone as a reward for my loyalty. No wasn't taken for an answer and I was told what a terrible mistake I was making by declining.

I'm getting the feeling they wont be offering any great retention deals this time around like they have done in the past if you were persistent and waitied out your 30 days notice. Looking at the cashback sites there doesn't seem to be much available for Three so maybe they really are trying to save as much money as possible.

Will be interesting to hear if anyone gets any loyalty discount on the S3 over the coming weeks
  • I had the same issue in-store. They basically said I had to get rid of my existing price plan as they had a new policy whereby upgrading customers have to switch to one of the current plans. No discounts were offered on price plans or on the phones I wanted (TBF my choice was the IP4s or the S3!!). I asked the guy about my 7 years of being with them counting for nothing (I have previously had good retention deals from them) and he basically said yep, means nothing!
  • Can't believe 3 would prefer you to leave and give your money to a competitor than knock of a few quid from your monthly bill. very stupid business plan!!

They wouldn't even knock off £1

    Very stupid company!

I've always had good retention deals but looks like I going to be stuck this year. Currently on £13/month for one plan. Might have to stay with it and buy a sim free phone.

Good way out of your contract, if you're in a poor signal area, ask for a signal booster and escalate your request to the complaints team, for some reason they are happy to release me from 6 contracts for free, rather than provide a signal booster for free.

Tried this and although I was unable to get out of my contract, they reduced my monthly bill (all you can eat package) from £25 to £19!! Cant knock that I guess!

I left, ported to Asda Mobile and just ordered a GS3 from 3 and it came yesterday. Quidco and TCB deals with 3 had plummeted at the time, but have gone back up a little in the last few days. I used a cashback site called Quanti as they were offering £110 on the one plan and they said they just phoned 3 to confirm the cashback - so far so good... but it's not guaranteed until it's in the back!!!

Just to let people know retention the deal I have taken:

Was paying £31-ish/month on an iphone 4 contract taken out 2 years ago for: 500 mins, 5000 texts, 1GB data (plus free 2GB add-on).

Wanted a sim-only deal, and was offered similar things to others that have been posted on here. eg, the £8/month deal on a 24 month contract. Could have got the unlimited data for £3 extra, but the 24 month contract put me off.

In the end stayed on exactly the same package but paying £10/month on a 12 month contract. 3GB data is more than enough for me.
  • I was on a really naff tarrif and wrote to them to give notice last week stating that I thought my deal was bad and that I had been looking around.Guy rang me today offered me 100 mins, 5000 txt, 250mb data , galaxy fone and the usual 2000 3 to 3 mins all for £10.I told him I had seen much better in the 3 stores near me, he then put me on hold and went to speak to his manager.Came back with 300 x net, mins 5000 txt, 250mb data, samsung galaxy and 2000 3 to 3 mins for £8 a month on 24 month contract.I know the fone is not fab but it suits an oldie like me and has almost halved my current plan which only game me 500 mins/txt and 500 mb data. So am pleased, suits me.Never even thought of trying to deal with them until I read this forum so thanks guys.
