Hi, I phoned three today to give them my 30 days notice (24 month contract ends 18th June) but I have just spent 1 hour on the phone going around in circles.

I told the guy that I wanted to give my 30 day notice, and that I was going to purchase a new One Plan contract with Three (New Galaxy S3, via Quidco , possible £110 cashback) and that I wanted my PAC code, I want to keep my existing number so I am planning to port the number to 02 pay as you go and then port it back when I have my new handset.

He never offered me anything better than was advertised on the Three website, but after 1 hour of bo#l#c!s rambling, he told me to call back in a couple of days, and if I wanted to, then cancel my contract. He said that I could go onto a PAYG rolling contract with Three and that way would not lose my number.

The problem now is my head is so confused, if I call back in a couple of days, will my existing contract automatically renew and I would have to wait a further 30 days before I cancel, or was he trying to do me a favour? by telling me to call back.

    Thanks in advance

Surely you can get the same deal (£34pcm + £49 upfront = £36pcm) by signing up the contract on Three website (bar signal booster) but potentially with quidco/topcashback of £110?

I was lead to believe that that's only for new 3 customers? I was already a 3 customer on a rolling sim only contract.

Your contract won't "renew" - it will continue indefinitely till you give your notice!

If that is what you want to do, then don't wait any longer, as your 30 days won't start till you have got them to accept it!

Be assertive, and get yiur PAC tiday!

I'm on the exact same contract/discount which was due for renewal in January. They wouldn't offer me anything that wasn't available on the website.

Previously they've given me a discount on the handset price as I don't mind paying for it with such a low monthly cost but they wouldn't even do that this time.

They've always offered something in the past, the free 2gb internet etc but nothing this time round. All the operators know you cannot get a better priced contract than that (and they are right) so its difficult to bargain with them.

I haven't tried the PAC code route yet though.

Just to confirm that as expected I was offered nothing that came close to my existing tariff (now £5.70 a month with the increase).

Said there was no way I could keep my existing tariff and get a new deal (such as new phone). I was then offered a 'great deal' with the 'best Samsung phone on the market' - the galaxy europa :rotfl:!!! For £13 a month, albeit with more texts and unlimited data.

I had to hang up in the end as he was so desperate to upgrade me I couldn't get off the phone, no matter how many times I just said I'll keep what I've got and by a sim free handset if needs be

I know they do their best to keep you as a customer... I requested my PAC just saying that I got a new job and this new company is now going to pay for my phone bill with their preferred network...

Following a massive palava instore (I was basically talked into 'cancelling' my SIM only one plan so the guy could take my preorder as a 'new customer',) and a palava with cancellations (overseas man didn't actually put through my cancellation request), I managed to get an offer of the SIII on the one plan for £25/month.

I spoke to this lovely guy (called Visharu), who said to me it sounded like I'd been missold instore, he checked my record, saw that I had one years usage and offered me a £6/month discount for being a 'valued and loyal' customer. I called the store an cancelled my preorder (staff bizarrely fine) and called him back. He put through the order and I thanked him for being so helpful. I'm gonna have to wait till the 8th of June, but hey, I can deal with that if my phone, which is also my home wifi connection, costs under £30/month.

So I hang up and return to a beer in the garden, then I get a call back and its this guy again. I was like 'oh no', and he said he'd told his line manager about my troubles and the manager had said reduce it by a further £3/month to £25/month. I was dumbstruck - but I took it.

It would seem that everyone has a bad experience with three retentions, but not me (I suppose I should wait till I get the phone and first bill), but this was pretty good. If you are looking for a good deal and a nice chap to deal with I would ask for this Visharu(?) in retentions!

I tried twice to get a 'deal' out of them but all they would offer me was the same deals on the websites so I asked to be dropped down to a 30 day SIM only plan to cover me falling off the end of my contract and asked for my PAC code (which they gave me after 4 tries).

The following day they called me back and offered me:

    500 minutes or txts
    3000 3 to 3 minutes
    500mb data
    Free Galaxy Europa

    £8 for 24 months

I was already on this tarrif but paying £17.36 a month on my existing contract so happy to take it as its cheaper than switching to GiffGaff, etc. and the phone may be rubbish but I wont be using it anyway.

Got offered the same today. Said I wasn't interested in a new phone so was offered:
    3000 text
    2000 3 to 3 minutes
    1GB data
    100 Cross network minutes.

All for £7 per month on a 1 month rolling contract.

Great if you don't need many cross network minutes.
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I did ask about going SIM only and was offered the same but the phone is going for £40 on ebay so I will sell it and that will bring the monthly cost down to effective £6.33 a month over the term.

Seems these 2 deals are their default 'last chance' options after you actually extract your PAC from them :)

Being on another 24 month contract is fine with me as I have been with them for the past 4 years now and never go near my allowances.

Plus, its a cheap deal and we have a signal booster from them at home which makes up for the rubbish signal in our house (its fine everywhere else).

Hi I was due an upgrade with 3 December 11 (6months ago)

I hadn't renewed as no phones had taken my fancy and was reluctant to take out a 24month contract!

My husband came home yesterday with the rather lovely Samsung galaxy sIII I am rather interested

Should I try Instore on over the phone?
