    day 3!

Called cancellations/retention again, Mahesh offered me the exclusive deal of £38/month for the one x on the one plan.

I'm gonna think about it for the next couple of hours for when Mahesh calls back, looks like its true about Three no longer offering loyalty discounts, especially on this package deal.

May have to bite the bullet and take up this standard plan -_-

    Do not take that!

There is cashback and better deals out there online.

Your luck must be crappy to be calling so many times and still being offered the 'exclusive deal' that is the standard for new customers on their site.

Be patient! Don't rush it and take the 'exclusive deal' ... ;)

I am slightly annoyed that this time round I am not able to get a more pleasant upgrade compared to last time.

They pulled out everything to retain me last time but this time it seems like they wouldn't budge at all.

I tried all the tips and tricks that I learned last time I was here but to no avail!

Unfortunately, I already agreed to take this as I have looked around and couldn't see how I could get this handset and tariff for cheaper without cancelling.

The reason why I was concerned was due to me possibly having bad credit so if i cancelled and tried to get the cashback offer than I may be declined due to a bad credit rating
(long story but banking errors may have affected mines. Im not 100% sure but I don't want to risk not having a contract phone..thats a whole different story altogether!)

On the plus side(depends on how you look at it), my HTC desire has developed a fault where it overheats/reboots.

Three won't repair since its outside its warranty/contract period.. some may call it fate?

I do have a cooling off period when my new phone arrives, so i may call up and see what they will say then.

Best of luck to you all who are upgrading, I'll report back if I decide to keep the phone for anyone no sure about the HTC ONE x.

The Desire has a 2 year warranty from HTC. How old is yours?

Contract expired in January so that would mean that my hand set is 21 months?!

I was told that cause it was outside the contract that they would not fix it :(

I guess 333 shall be getting another phone call today :)

The warranty is from HTC. Whether you are in a contract or not is irrelevant.

    Warranty details here:
    http://www.htc.com/www/help/warranty-statement/

    From P3 of the pdf:
This Limited Warranty shall last for twenty-four (24) months from the
date of original purchase for mobile devices, and twelve (12) months
for accessories (whether included in the mobile device sales package
or sold separately) other than the media on which any software is
provided, CD-ROM, memory card (“Warranty Period”).
You can also contact HTC Warranty support direct if you cant be bothered arguing it out with 3 for ages:

  • It seems 3 do have some ok deals, I was not offered anything decent when I "was thinking of leaving" and in the end got my PAC. A couple days on and I've had a few calls; just got offered £8/month for 300 mins/2000 texts/2000 3-3 mins/250MB with a Galaxy Europa on a 24-month contract. Not the phone I want, but at that low monthly price I'm considering...

Their SIM only plan - SIM 600 12 month - is available for £12 pcm and comes with 600mins / 3000 text / 1G data, plus it is only a 12 months contract. Topcashback is giving £83.83 for signing up this deal - this reduces the monthly cost to around £5 pcm. You may want to consider this instead of signing up to another 24m contract.

I managed to get the One Plan sim only (12 Month) for £19 when I took out a second line on handset contract. Got a home signal box thrown in.

I totally understand the issue with not getting approved for credit. I change address frequently and that has been a problem where I could not get my name on the electoral roll quick enough.

But hey, you gonna get an amazing phone! So its all good :D

My 3 contract is up at the end of May. I was dead set on leaving them as I get such a lousy service in my house. One of the first thing the bloke mentions was some signal booster 'worth £120' that I can have if I re-contract in with them. Are these any good?

I currently pay £24 a month I think it is and whilst I hardly use it to make calls I use mobile internet a fair bit and send plenty of texts.

Any ideas on tactics? I could do with a new handset as mine is a bit worse for wear but I'm not overly bothered about the flashiest machine - it would be nice to be able to take photos though!

Can I get a better deal elsewhere or is there something I should strive to get from 3? I'm more than happy to move elsewhere particularly if I can get cashback via Quidco etc.
