3 Retention Deals

I've got a £10 per month, 30 day rolling contract SIM only deal. Going to cancel shortly... am I likely to get an offer to stay? Anyone had any dealings with retentions and SIM only?
I cancelled my SIM 15 monthly deal a month ago. I got one call (and to be fair she did say she would be the last point of contact) after a week and was offered a 24 month contract with a Samsung Galaxy Europa, 300 minutes, 3,000 texts & 3 to 3 minutes and unlimited data for £13. I said no because I didn't want a 24 month contract, particularly after having been on a monthly SIM, and used my PAC yesterday having not heard anything more from '3'.0 -
I've been a 3 customer for around 2 years - all but the last month on a £15 contract, and now on £10 sim only.
I had one initial call to ask if I wanted to upgrade, and was given a few "exclusive deals". I hadn't got around to looking at new phones, and I wasn't at my computer at the time, so I said I wasn't sure what I wanted yet, and agreed to go onto the £10 sim only plan while I was deciding. When I later checked the 3 website, every single one of these "exclusive deals" was offered to all customers.
Last week, I called to see what kind of deal I could get. In short, I could get nothing. In fact, I could barely get a word in edgeways, as the woman I was talking to wouldn't shut up and kept trying to sell me add ons without me even agreeing on a phone to have. In short, she also lied about "exclusive deals", talked to me like I was clueless when it was very clear I knew far more about mobile technology than she did (eg, she told me that a 3mb file downloaded on my current phone would be about 9mb on Android, because "Android is better and does things differently"), told me that another deal I was looking at from a different provider was recently on Watchdog for being a cash back scam (it wasn't).
In the end, I just told her I'm going with another company and hung up. At some point I'll be calling 3 to cancel and request a PAC. Has anyone had any success in negotiating a better contract with 3 after such terrible and misleading customer service to use as a bargaining chip? Will it make any difference, or do they really not care about keeping customers? Ideally I want a good deal on the SE Experia Arc S for around £20, or £25 on the one plan. Is this doable?
Thanks in advance.0 -
Does anybody know if it's true that if you intend to cancel a contract which has discount on it (due to it being from retentions), you would have to pay the full contract price, i.e. what it would cost without the discount per month, for the remainder of the months?0

You would pay the normal monthly charges - I had this before and thought the same as you. But if you terminate early, the discounts wouldn't apply. If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)0 -
I phoned 3 last last month to upgrade to an Iphone 4 which they offered as a xmas offer. No upgrade, only new contracts. The rep then put me on a £22 flexible one plan deal for 12 months and told me any deal I see on the 3 website i could take.
I saw an iphone 4 16gig refurb for £30 today no upfront cost ,so decided to take this. I phone three upgrades and they wanted £69 for the the upgrades when clearly on there site it was free.
So new customers get the deals and customers whom have been with three for many years subsidise this. I have been with 3 for over 8 years and have always got a discount. many people on T mobile and Voda get retention deals. I think three are forgetting there loyal customer base for the sake of new business.
I guess this is a valid business practice.0 -
Just signed up for the following 12 months sim only flexible deal:
300 mins or texts
5000 3 to 3 mins
2.5 gb data
For £10 per month
I tried my best to get it cheaper than £10 because I am a light user and would prefer cheaper line rental instead of loads of allowance that I am not going to use, but he would not budge, said they are no longer allowed to offer anything less than £10 even to the existing customers. I guess the days of £5 line rental are over!!!0 -
After over an hour talking to 3 different Customer Services reps, I was offered nothing than what was avalible for new customers online. I've been with 3 for 6 years and have a pretty good deal at present:
VVT 750
750min
50 Video (No use)
50 Picture Msg
150 Texts
£5 Download (No use)
I've got discounted line rental to £12.11
All I was asking for was about 150 more texts and 150 more minutes on top but they've would give anything out just constantly offering the same online deals.
They had no idea what Quidco was as they've got a great deal on the Sim 600 12 month deal, so it would be cheaper to leave and rejoin, Crazy!
Not too sure if anyone has had any better luck recently as I clearly haven't.0 -

I have the same price plan for £5 a month, but I have to accept that this cannot be beaten, so I just buy PAYG phones and keep the price plan, I do have 5 other contracts with 3 and i've noticed the deals just aren't being offered anymore.0 -
How does this look:
Nokia lumia 800
£99 upfront
£12.50 a month
1Gb Data, 500 mix'n'match texts/minutes
24 month contract0
