3 Retention Deals

What' are the general steps to take to get the best deal out of 3?
I've been with them for around 6 years with 2 contracts, and I'm nearing the end of an 18 month contract (comes to an end in September I think) and I got a £180 Comet voucher for upgrading with them last time, anyhow I would like to what's the best way to get the most out of them? Do I wait until the last day of the contract, ring them up myself?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated0 -
Has anyone got a good deal with 3 retentions on the iPhone? So far they've offered 20 quid off the handset price if I go with the One plan.
Has anyone got better than that? They claim it's their maximum discount
I know you can get £109 cashback if you go through Quidco as a new customer, so i don't think £20 is the best they can do0 -
Hi I called them up yesterday after my 18 month contract ended and three wern't interested at all with regards to any discount. Even gave them the blurb about valuing me as a good customer but they wern't interested at all.
As for Quidco, I have been watching the amount of discount myself but has anyone got their cashback?
Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated
Thank you

Yes, I managed to get Quidco cashback about 2 years ago without any problem. I even used a discount code that the Three on-line chat person gave me too to get £20 worth of free accessories; didn't affect my cashback either.0 -
Upgrading with 3 on same number for 6 years.
Have been waiting for the Nokia E7 to be released now 4 months over end of contract, started the process back in January, 3 retentions dropped my tariff to talk text 900 1gb internet with blackberry mail for £24 all in (nice) no new contract, as phone still waiting to be released.
April started to ring 3 customer services again as phone now available, asking for Nokia e7 on the one plan being told £40 per month 24 month contract.
lots of offers all around £35 - £40 per month.:(
MAY 10th asked how to change use of phone to payg. asked why told sob story hate the BB don't/can't use it bla bla bla sick of paying for phone i dont use to its full extent. offered another deal with international calls its ok but can do better ( i call Spain) went ahead and gave 30 days notice and asked for phone to be turned to payg.
18th rang again asked for current upgrade deals Nokia e7.. £40!! why when i can get it from buymobilephones.net for £28 per month and £109 one off for phone, i will pass you through to a different department. "Retentions how can i help" (as above) came back with Nokia E7 one plan £28 per month £70 for phone. i said that's not a retention that's a price match. That was the best they could do today.
23 day left till i revert to payg or get a good deal just keep harassing them as they will offer you what you want, they just don't know it yet.:)0 -
What happens if you don't upgrade/cancel at the end of the contract, does it automatically renew itself?0

Yes - you continue to pay what you currently pay obviously without a new phone
If you hand in your 30 day notice when your contract is due to end, then you may get lucky with a deal to retain your custom, like a new phone but continue on same package.
But thesedays 3 try to get you take out a new 'smartphone; that you dont want nor care for on a 24 month deal!0 -

If that's the case then, why do they phone people up, asking them to take up another contract?
For example, Three phone me up 2 months before the contract is due to end, and offer me a new 18 month contract. I haggle with them, and get nowhere. I end up forgetting that my contract is due to end, and they purposely don't let me know and then come end of the contract I'm automatically tied to another 18 month contract0 -

Retentions phone you 1-2 months before the end of your current contract to offer you a new deal eg new phone and or tariff if you don't accept, your contract just keeps rolling on 1 month at a time you can cancel with 1 month notice or upgrade when you want. sometimes 3 cs will give you a better deal with your existing phone and leave your contract rolling month to month you must ask if this is a retention deal without signing up to a contract or a new contract and its duration. if you cancel your 3 contract make a note of time date as calls are recorded and get a reference number or your call will be lost and your contract will keep going they don't like to disconnect contracts.0 -
