Just had a quick check on this thread and gave 3 a ring. I'm currently on a £15 month for 500 mins and 100 text (talktext 600) and 2gb internet and have just come to the end of a 18 month contract. When I called I just said I'd like to talk about upgrades and didn't ask for a pac or anything.
I was offered various deals that looked similar to the deals on the web. I said I wasn't interested and would was happy with how things were and didn't want to buy anything, thanked the lady for her time and was just about to hang up when I was offered a 12 month flexible contract with my existing package reduced £5.60 month.
I think now I'm going to buy a 3 compatible phone online, I can see a second hand Wildfire for £100 and just stick with this package.
From what I was told on the phone it seems a great deal. are there any catches?0 -

Hi
I phoned them this evening and managed to get an Iphone 4 32GB for £69 upfront and £35 a month for 24 months (on the one plan). Had been on a rolling one month sims only contract for a few months while I decided whether to wait for the Iphone 5 or not.
I know its alot to spend over the two years but I can ofset some of the cost by selling my 3GS.
It is being delivered on Friday. I can't wait :j£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -

I just phoned to get my PAC. The woman said they could give me a good deal to stay. I said I was after the new Desire S. The best she offered me was a Desire S for £35 per month. I said that for £35 I may as well get an Iphone, and that in December I was offered my same existing contract - 18 months on £18 with 200 mins, 4000 texts & 1gb data - plus the Galaxy S or Desire for £20 a month with £100 up front. She said that I couldn't have been. I told her to check my records as I was sent the Galaxy S but returned it as I didn't like it. She checked, said that their deals changed in December.
I said that I didn't really want to pay more than £20 a month and with similar to my current contract - in December the guy at Three said I was better changing to a rolling contract of £15 a month for 300 mins, 4000 texts & 2gb data. He assured me at the time that changing to that contract would not affect my ability to get a similar upgrade offer in the future - I suspect he has stitched me up there. She said she could offer me a HTC Wildfire for free on a £20 contract. I said no thanks, that's an old, low spec phone and I could get it on PAYG for £130 (she argued that I couldn't get it for less than £230 on PAYG).
She didn't really seem to know much (she didn't even known about the Galaxy S2 due out, despite it being listed on the Three site as a 'coming soon' phone).
Has anyone else had any decent offers from Three recently? Does it sound like I have been stitched up by changing to the rolling contract?
I have my PAC now anyway, so if they don't call me back within a couple of weeks I may as well look for another network. Do Three general call people when they have asked for a PAC or just let them go?
On the plus side, leaving Three would get rid of that bloody awful voicemail service. It used to be fine, but a few months ago they changed it and now there's a male and woman voice sharing the greetings, etc, both with slight Brummie accents. Between the two of them and my saved greeting it sounds horrible whenever anyone calls and leaves a message!0 -
I had to join this forum purely to document the interesting conversation me and OH have had with Three tonight while obtaining PAC codes.
We both rang about upgrade offers a couple of days ago and had no joy e.g. (all 24 month contracts starting now): Desire HD for £37 on One Plan, Wildfire £22 on Text 300, Desire £29 on Text 500.
We are both desperate to have a shorter than 24m contract and have new phones so are going to Vodafone and Talk mobile for 12 months with Desire and Wildfire for £35 and £20 with £200 cashback hopefully.
Spoke to Three tonight and OH was not offered any other deals and got PAC easily (and the amount to pay was less than we thought as there was a discount applied) although she was told that 12 month contracts are not allowed and must check terms and conditions of new deal thoroughly. I was promised an amazing deal not seen on website or any other network which materialised as £15.42 12m contract for 200 mins, unltd texts, 2gb net and unltd 3-3 mins and I could buy a Wildfire for £159 to use with it! Needless to say I turned this down and asked for my PAC at which point he told me I needed to give my card details to pay off my contract, I pointed out the excess was automatically deducted from last payment after PAC used. I did get my PAC without paying and can't wait to use it and leave the Bangladesh call centres alone forever!0 -
hotspur79 - I know what you mean about those Three call centres! However, are you sure the £12 TalkMobile Wildfire deal is only 12-months? I thought it was 24-months and it looks that way on their website.0

I gave up on Three. I went for a Desire S for £20 a month, 300 mins, 300 text, 500mb data on a 24 month contract. Came today and pleased with it so far.0
