How far from the end of your contract were you to get that Wadge? Were you in your last 30 days ?

On one of them (the more expensive one) three days from end of contract (PAC already asked for) and the other one (cheaper) just over a month from end of contract.
  • Currently on 3, my contract ends in April but I'm due for an upgrade tomorrow.

Last week I received a letter from Virgin Media about a mobile deal they are doing for existing customers (have tv, bb and phone line with VM).

VM are offering the following sim-only deal:

600 minutes , unlimited text and 1GB of mobile data and unlimited calls to other Virgin Mobiles for £7.32.

So I rang two weeks ago to check when I was due for an upgrade and try to see if they could match this deal.

They said they could offer me my current deal (if I rang back in two weeks time) which is:

300 minute, 150 text, 25 mms, 25 video minutes, £5 download credit (to download music/games from 3store) and 2GB mobile date, currently paying £10 a month on an 18 month contract

For £5 month on a 12 month contract.

Question is, should I take it now or should I wait till April for the contract to end?

Is the above a good sim-only deal?

I've just had almost the same offer from 3, not quite as good, 300 M&M, unlimited internet, 3000 3to3 (but I don't know anyone on 3). Currently paying £10 and they've offered me £5 for 12 months and I can upgrade at any time.

They previously (5 minutes earlier) offered Sony Eriksson Experia X8 with 300 M&M but only 512 mb internet. I asked for the HTC Desire but they insisted the Sony Eriksson was better!!!

I'm waiting for the next call, this is fun isn't it? :D

P.S. Contract expires within the next month

I'm due an upgrade in March, but reading the last few pages it doesnt sound like 3 are offering much anymore.

I'm after the DesireHD, but given my brother has just got it from Orange for £15pm for 18months (he was upgrading his contract through them) and i managed to get them to offer it to me for £20pm, from reading this thread, its looking likely i'll be moving network if 3 cant at least match that.
  • I have an unlocked Iphone 4 and am paying 20 pounds for VTT 1000 and am in my last month of the contract. I currently get: 750 min calls, 150 txt, 5 pounds free download from Planet 3, 50min video calls, 50 video msg and 2Gb internet. Been with 3 for 7 years.

I called and spoke to the options dept today. I was offered:

Same VTT 1000 deal as above plus:

    5000 3-3 min
Extra 2Gb internet (bringing total to 4Gb)

12 months, sim free "flexible" deal. For 15 pounds/month.

I wanted more txt and unlimited internet (all you can eat deal) but the guy wouldn't budge. Tried explaining that I have an iphone 4 thefore the 5 pounds free download from planet 3 and 50min video call that I get in this deal is irrelevant as I can't use it. Still not budging, so asked for a PAC code.

CS told me someone will call me within the next day or two to issue the PAC code.

DO you think this was a good deal? Could I haggle and get any better?

    Thanks!

Just rang 3 for my PAC code as I am now out of contract. Was on 200 mins/3000 texts/1GB internet with a Nokia E71 for £20 per month.

Have bought a new phone and am just interested in a SIM only deal. Tesco have a good 30 day contract SIM only deal - 500 mins/unlimited texts/Unlimited data (Fair usage = 500MB) so used that and ideally want something similar but for between £5 and £7.50

After haggling they denied the Tesco deal was 30 days or £10, told me they couldn't get the Tesco mobile web page up and offered me 300mins/3000texts/1GB internet on a 12 month contract and a £15 credit into my account..told them the deal was the same as in store. They kept on with the same deal but after I asked for my PAC code the third time they gave up.

So I have my PAC just hope they ring back with something better.

I know loyalty is fickle in the mobile provider market but have been with them for over 5 years so would have expected a better deal or a match to the Tesco one..

You mention that CS told you someone will call you within the next day or two to issue the PAC code?

Just received my PAC code via text 10 minutes after getting off the phone to CS. If you specifically ask for a PAC code they are obliged to send you one via text.
