  • just tried to cancel a three broadband dongle (no signal home, but before the change in euro roaming, used to get free 3 to 3italia connection) and was told that three have won a case to have contract deals between sister companies reinstated. I haven't put that very well, but the question is, does anyone know anything about three, offcom and euro data roaming changes/announcements due sometime in 2011?

My signal issue is my mobile in the house - it's fine at work and if I am out which is when I really need it, but only gets a decent signal at home if I am upstairs and at the back of the house. But as I am increasing my monthly allowance it makes sense to be able call mobile to mobile from home rather than have to use the landline - and from the comfort of my sofa rather than the bathroom!

I was assured it was all due to the UMTS frequency and that all new phones now had an increased bandwidth so I would be fine with my BlackBerry. That was obviously the science bit read from a script and I will wait for reality tomorrow to see if it's true....

I phoned them after I had my PAC just to see what they would charge me for staying on a 30 day rolling contract as I was undecided about who to switch to. The guy then started asking what I really wanted and we went back to negotiating - he could give me different phones with the same minutes and texts for less per month - was offered Nokia and Sony smartphones or the BB Curve but I really wanted the Blackberry Bold. They have assured me that my signal in the house will improve as well - if not it is going straight back on Thursday!

    Well the day after I cancelled and was actually given my PAC I was telephoned by Three and offered a better deal for a Nokia N8 of;

    500Mins
    3000TXTs
    2GB Internet
£125 for the phone (reduced from an offer of £155 )
£16.75 a month on only an 18mth contract

I said I was still not interested and it would have to be £100 or less. They asked when I was going to use my PAC, I said when I got home tonight...

When I got in about 30mins later and ordered my new Nokia N8 from the other provider. Then Three phoned again to say they could offer me the above deal, but only £95 for the handset :j

I accepted and have cancelled the other order without any apparent problems. I should hopefully get the new one tomorrow - Three even waived the delivery charge for me :)

A result from my perspective :D

    Galaxy S - £15 pm, £130 up front, 18mths, 100 mins, unlimited texts, 2GB internet, unltd 3-3 (I'm a low user so didn't care about low mins)
  • I upgraded on 10th November with 3. At first they offered me 500 cross network mins, 5000 3 to 3 calls, 5000 texts and 1GB of internet usage for £25pm on a 24 month contract. I said that the deal wasn't good enough having been a customer of theirs for the last 6 years. I also pointed out that my husband and mum are with 3 and if I left they would also leave 3.

Still no joy ! So I then asked for my PAC code. I was then put through to another department and was all set to get my code when he offered my 2000 cross network mins, 5000 3 to 3 calls, 5000 texts and 1GB of internet usage for £24pm on a 24 month contract with the phone for free !

    Happy days :j
  • You know using the "I have been with your for soo long" speach does nothing but put the CS agents back up. Regardless of how long you've been with a company they'll try and save you up to the last moment.

I'll never understand this go into the phone call demanding what you want. You know being nice to people gets you soo much more.
  • In my renewal window
Offered and accepted the following SIM ONLY 12 month plan

    900 mix and match minutes
    5000 3 to 3 mins
    2gb data

    12 month contract for £7 a month
(initially giving it to me for £10 a month but then saw the discounts on my account from an NHS code that I had used)

Found it a very simple process, the person from 3 was very polite and thanked me for staying with 3.

Letter arrived today confirming the deal :j

  • My contract has been up for a couple of weeks now and when I spoke to three at the end of October they gave me a few okayish deals but I could get better with Orange. The three guy said that if I wanted one of the latest phones then to wait a month or so and try again as they are usually able to offer better deals. So I got my PAC code from them but haven't moved over to another provider yet (seems like Orange's signal is terrible at home).

I called three again today to see what's available right now in terms of upgrade and was told that since 5th November they only offer what is available on the website. Apparently those deals are for existing customers and legally they have to offer them to new customers too. So apparently there is now no room for manoeuvring with any of the price plans. I was a bit confused by this and told him about a friend who has recently upgraded and got a better offer but he told me this must be due to a discount she has on her account.

I'm guessing that what he's told me is not quite right but has anyone else been told this?
  • My phone isn't up for renewal - I renewed around 6months, and got a cracking deal:

    £100 for iphone 3GS
    300 mins
    150 txt
    25 pic msgs
unlimited internet (which I just found out is 2gb really)
    £5 downalods which I don't use.

All for £10 per month as I was on an old contract.

That was great. It really was suited to me and my needs. However I find myself texting a lot more now and zooming through them each month. I called three last night to see if they could give me more mins and txts and how much more it would cost.

They came back with the one plan. Which is something like:
    2000mins,
    5000 txts
so many thousand 3 to 3 mins.
    3GB internet.
no pic msgs (which I think is rubbish, and they're 25p each!)

    All for £25 per month.

Now, it's not such a bad deal in some ways as it's a heck of a lot more mins/txts and 'only' £15 more. In true mse style I tried to haggle, just to get them down to £20ish. Though they were pretty set on the price as they say my old contract is ancient now (which it is) and having just upgraded around 6months or so ago I was not due any sort of updates, but being a loyal customer (which I am) they'd allow me to change plans.

My phone is unlocked (I think) as it's been jailbroken, so I was wondering if there are any other good deals out there before I decide to possibly opt for the change. Or has anyone else been in the same boat and managed to haggle them down more?

    Cheers
