3 Retention Deals

I've just come to the end of my first 18 month contract with 3.
I have a Nokia E71 (which I'm reasonably happy with) and am paying £20 per month for 4000(!) texts, 200 voice minutes, 2gb internet and free 3 to 3 calls.
I don't call or text much, but do use the net daily for 15 mins or so (up to 60 mins on journeys). i find 3s reception OK, with a few blackspots but nothing major. I'd probably prefer an Android phone, but the E71 works well enough for most of what I want to do.
I'm confused as to what sort of deal I ought to ask for. I should get one that recognizes I'm not getting a new phone, but want to keep the internet allowance particularly. Any advice would be appreciated.0 -
I take it you haven't spoken to 3 customer services much...:rotfl:
Used to be on 3 took me 20minutes to get a PAC from them. The guy kept forcing a 6500 Slide on me. Told him I worked for a network and he never once tried to asses my needs and just force a product on me instead of coming to a compramise. He told me His sales job was different to my sales job so I didn't know what I was talking about. So I told him mobile retail is mobile retail so just gimmie my PAC lol0 -

How about looking at Fishtext? They now have an Iphone app. I've not needed to use it in the UK as never go over my allocated amount. However, used it when abroad as cheaper uisng the Data Roaming to send a Text with them.
£20 would give you 1250 texts to use for Uk mobile. You can do their free trial.

Hey Dom, thanks very much for the reply! That sounds cool, though no mention of more minutes with that service. So for the extra £5 I think 3 might look better at the moment. Plus, I'd have to pay my £10 a month for the remainder of my 24month contract. so that would mean £30. I guess I've probably answered my own question there as I'd have to keep paying £10 to three regardless of which network I went to. So it might be worth just paying the extra £15 for the deal. Shame about bloomin picture msgs though!

I am only getting what is offered on their website now. Have got my pac and have ordered a giffgaff sim card (looked at the T Mobile offer, but the signal is hit and miss and Orange is no better in my area)
Anyone know how to unlock a E71 for free or get around the £15 charge from three?0 -
I've been with 3 for a few years and last year took out a 2nd contract (for my gf).
last month I asked when my contract was up and I was straight away offered the following (no haggling).
HTC Wildfire
500 mins
100 txts
2gb
18 month contract.
£15 per month
Today I nogotiated a new deal for my dad (he's also got 2 contracts and has been with 3 for a few years).
Nokia 5230
unltd mins
unltd txts
3 gb
£10 international calls
24 month contract
£16 per month
They offered alot less initally, but I called back when I realised that both of his contracts were up for renewal (I thought this added weight to our bargainning position). They would'nt give a good deal on his other contract though (yet) so another call back later.0 -

Tell me about it, they must have had cupboards stuffed with those things, about 18 months ago they kept on and on at me to take one.
Lucklily I'm a mobile geek and know 'too much' about most phones! I love it when they use the catchy nickname for a phone - 'But Mr D this LG Mahou is a really great phone....No it isn't 1.3MP camera, buggy firmware - it's worth about the same as a Mars bar and a half full cup of coffee and £30 a month for 18 months isn't a good deal mate - even if I am getting 'presidential' treatment! ha haTighter than a gnats ****0 -
After more calls than I dare to recall I have done a deal with Three. I originally accepted (via call back from retentions team)-
HTC Desire
One Plan
£25 a month
I then decided another deal they offered me was more appropriate-
HTC Hero
900 Texter
£11 a month
18 months
Cancelled and tried to obtain Hero offer again. No longer available. Few more calls and I eventually got offered (from Customer Options)-
X10 Mini Pro
The One Plan
£15 a month
24 months
As long as this is accurate upon delivery, I think I shall be very happy.0 -
I feel beaten, mentally exhausted.... on the phone to three again for 40 mins and I have very little to show for it.
Bog standard 12 months 250 mins, 3000 texts, 5000 3to3, 2gb internet for £10 per month and I can upgrade at any time (mmm sounds fishy to me).
Wanted an E5 for my wife and something cheap and androidy for me, for less than the £15 I'm currently paying, 18 month deals only.
And yes I am being greedy, shy bairns get nowt as they say 'round my way'
But I'm very tempted to end this ongoing game of cat and mouse and just roll over and take the reduction in cost.
I'm not sure that I'll take them up on their upgrade anytime part of this deal however, as I feel this is a ploy to get old customers on pretty good tariffs onto something more profitable for 3 in the long run and I had also read somewhere that if you want to upgrade there's a cancellation charge!
The guy from retentions is ringing me back in 3 hours so I'll have to stew on it...anyone got anything I might not have thought of...would like the Hero deal for £11 that's been mentioned but the guy wouldn't budge. ??? what to do ??:(Tighter than a gnats ****0 -
12 month sim only deal can be upgraded at anytime ( FROM MONTH 9 if you ask the question)
They are hopeless at the minute for deals....
Keep on hoping for a £15 HTC desire upgrade with no luck0
