3 Retention Deals

just got off the phone to 3 about upgrading and he firstly tried to offer me a 24 month contract - told him didn't want anything other than the 12 month contract but didn't mind changin price plans. Not that he listened to me! Kept going on about this and that contract for 24 or even 36 months if I wanted it - err NO!

He asked what I used my phone for - told him to take photos, video, play music, make calls and internet (all of which I use my Ericsson for now)

Phones I got offered if I stay on my 12 month contract were:

Sony Ericsson Hazel - not even on their website!! He said it was such a "special phone" it wasn't offered to new customers (yeah right!) more like it's pig ugly. He said it had only been released in October I asked him to wait while I googled it and told him I didn't like it.

Samsung Galaxy Europa - only a 2mp camera told him this wasn't good enough as I take loads of photos on my phone. He tried to tell me it had good resolution. I told him that the resolution was much worse than the phone I currently have and I wasn't going to downgrade to a lower spec phone.

Told me I could have the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro for £109 on my existing contract. Told him I'd got 3 months left and I would leave it for now and phone back nearer the time.

Then he offered me a £10 flexible contract said it would still be 12 months but sim only and that then if I saw a phone I wanted to phone up and ask for that phone but agreed that I would then loose my 12 month contract and loyalty discount of £15 a month. Told him yet again I'd phone back nearer the time and he said he'd put a note on my screen with what I'd been offered today.

So the game begins......

5000 3 to 3 mins
2gb data

12 month contract for £7 a month
(initially giving it to me for £10 a month but then saw the discounts on my account from an NHS code that I had used)

Found it a very simple process, the person from 3 was very polite and thanked me for staying with 3.

what is an NHS code and how did you get one? i work for the NHS

When I renewed my 18 month contract (15 months ago) I used a code on the www.nhsdiscounts.com web site

The code no longer works as they have changed the deal to giving £100 back on your account.

Orange give NHS staff a a 10% discount ~but you get more for your money with three :-)

Three also apparently give you a discount if you say you are a teacher without asking for proof. Worth a shot.

Hi - what do people think of my deal?

Currently on the VTT500 (£5 a month for 300 mins, 150 texts, video mins etc, plus £5 for internet add on)

Offered the above staying at £5 per month plus 2gb internet for free on an 18 month contract
£30 fee for a Samsung Europa android phone

What contract were you on before?

Plus how long you been with three?

How long have you got left on your current contract to get that deal?? Thats what type of deal I want to get but my contract does not expire until mid Feb
