is it worth going instore? should i ask for Pac?
My wife called them on Friday to ask about an upgrade to a Wildfire and was offered:
Free HTC Wildfire
500 mins
3000 texts
'Unlimited' 3-3
500mb Internet
£18 a month for £24 months
She was originally on Mix and Match 500 with the paid for Internet bolt on.0 -
I just phoned 3 to see what they could offer me on the HTC Desire HD, and they havent got it in stock, so they couldnt give me any prices for it! Grrrrr :mad:Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

well my contract doesnt end till Jan 11 so it seems, they wouldnt give price for HD Desire, but normal desire dropped to £25, however they have dropped my monthly payment to £10. will try again nearer the end of contract for better deal.em x
Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Tried my luck today. I hate sales people who think you're gullible with all this 'special deal just for you' rubbish and that's exactly what I got for the full call.
current plan:- 300mins, unlts txt, unltd data (expires jan 2011)
first offer:-
sony ericsson X10 mini pro
500 mins
5,000 txt
1gb data
5000 3 to 3 mins
£20 pm, plus £36 up front
I told him my wife has that phone with t-mobile and pays less.
second offer:-
HTC desire
500min/txt
1gb data
5,000 3 to 3
£22 pm.
Told him I've seen it cheaper elsewhere.
third offer:-
Samsung galaxy S
500mins
5,000txt
1gb data
5,000 3 to 3
£25pm.
Again I said no because I've seen it cheaper elsewhere. I had to get quite forceful and said I'd just call back when I'm near end of contract to either upgrade or cancel depending on what they can offer me at the time.
(edit - all offers 24months)0 -

£17 for a wildfire with 500 minutes or £14 with 100 minutes was the best I could achieve with 30 minutes on the phone
I am off to a network with better coverage0 -
I'm thinking about getting a 3 SIM 30 day contract for a tenner (£10), staying a couple of months and asking for PAC. Am I likely to be offered something? Maybe cheaper line rental? If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)0

I just left THREE last week. I was on £20/month for 1200min xnet, unlimited 3 to 3, unlimited landlines, unlimited texts and 1gb internet. I have no sihnal in my area therefore I was allowed a pac code even though 16 months remaining on my 18 month contract. Signal was great until August 2010 then it just died in my area.
BTW I had the HTC Hero in white.0 -
I'm in the last 35 days of my 18 month contract.
I’m after a HTC Desire with circa 200 mins, +500 texts, 1gb data. Not fussed on the exact package of mins/text/data so long as it’s in that region. I do want a Desire though.
Just spoken to customer services (I'm thinking of leaving option) to see what deals I can get on this phone. I run out of time though as had things to do; they are calling me back later. What I have been offered so far:
Offer 1 –
HTC Desire (no upfront cost)
500 mins
Unlimited texts
1gb Data
24 month contract
£25 per month
=£600 total cost over length of contract
Offer 2 –
HTC Desire (no upfront cost)
300 mix & match mins/texts
500mb Data
24 month contract
£22 per month
=£528 total cost over length of contract
Offer 3 –
HTC Desire (£130 up front cost)
500 mins
Unlimited texts
1gb Data
18 month contract
£20 per month
(Originally quoted £180 upfront)
=£490 total cost over length of contract
I'm willing to pay up to £80 up front if this lowers the overall cost as I can get this for my current E71 off Mazuma. Offer 2 is no good as not enough texts.
I've quoted them the mobiles.co.uk HTC Desire offer on Orange, Dolphin 25 deal of £17 p/m (24 month contract, £25 p/m with £0.99 for first 8 months) I know they won’t be able to match this but I’m hoping they will knock their price down based on it. Would prefer to stay with Three rather than go down the line of a third party site.
Not pushed the point of requesting my PAC yet but may do if I’m likely to get a better deal? Any advice?0 -
having called them back they wouldn't budge on the upfront cost of offer 3. I'm not willing to pay as much as £130. In fact at first they tried to convince me I'd only been offered that deal at £180 until she checked with her manager (yeah right) their only other offers were worse than from the original call. I'm in no rush so I can try my luck again another day. Do you think it's realistic to expect a better deal than already offered?0
