I have been offered the HTC desire for a one off payment of £180 and extension to my existing contract of 18 months.

I keep my same loyalty discount so am on £5pm with VTT 500 (300 mins, 150 text, 25 video minutes, 25MMS, £5 inclusive downloads) .

I was also paying an additional £5pm for x series sliver (1gb limit) data package but was offered to move to the Unlimited Internet package (2gb limit) for the same price. Is there an advantage to stayingh on X series silver ?

So i get to keep my £10 for VTT 500 and a data package, but for a one off cost of £180 for the HTC desire.

Is this a good deal or should I have got the handset cheaper! The current minutes allowance and texts is what i use.

Just got off of phone with 3 again. They have already issued me with my PAC code and my contract ends in 3 weeks. Best offer they could do on the Desire was Internet Talker 300 and £24 per month. I quoted the £21 per month deal which someone else got (see Three Mobile Upgrade thread) but they couldnt offer that price. I have been with 3 for 3 years. I am stuck with Three as this is the only network that I can get a signal with in the village.

HTC Wildfire was quoted initially £22 this time ...when eventually they said that i could have at a promotional offer of £18 ..which is as per their website.

Overall there is no loyalty with 3....they just banged on about how good a deal I was getting with the upgrade as my current Nokia is £18 per month +£5 for internet max...................... Plan F next! (means Im getting fed up talking to retentions)

In the past I have only been offered a good deal from them calling me within the last 2 weeks of my contracts.... so....... chill and wait for the retentions team to call you.
But post what they offer when they do to give the rest of us some insight into what there offering;)

exactly the best deals come within the last 2 weeks before your PAC code runs out, when they phone you to say 'oh we see your pac code hasnt been used yet why is this' the best answer is well i am waiting untill a week before the end so i dont have to pay for 2 contracts - they couldnt argue with this

I phoned three today, my upgrade period started last sat, thought they may have called me since i'd registered intrest for the iphone4, but alas no.

Anyways, turns out theres no record of me registering for the iphone4, and it will be a bit of a wait, plus after holding one, i think i prefer the feel of the 3gs version, i played on the fact i wanted iphone4, and was very upset that my registration hadnt worked.

He was a nice enough bloke on the phone, but they obv have a script to read off, he then offered me a 8gb 3gs, which i instantly turned down as i want 32gb, then he said what about 16gb, but again i refused, saying i have a ipod touch 16gb and its not big enough.

So then came the ah well, i will see what i can do...

£25 a month, 500mins, 3000txts, 1gb limit, one off cost of, wait for it, £259

I actually laughed down the phone, said the iphone 4 deals on the website were better than that.

Eventually got him down to £30 a month 500mins, 3000txts, 1gb limit, one off cost of £59, but i had been put on hold quite a bit by then.

24 month contract is a bit scary, but its ordered now & should be here friday.

In the back of my mind though i'm thinking i should send it back & wait for the iphone4 issues to be ironed out then try and get a deal on one of those, i understand it that you can send it back, aslong as its unused?

Think you may have been better holding off a little to see what offers come your way. As i posted 4-5 posts above if there offering the iphone4 to me for
    £99 up front
    500 xnet mins
    5000 texts
    5000 3-3 mins
    1Gb net
I'm sure you could have got a better deal but that said, if you decided to send it back and rang them 1st.... may be they could improve on your deal as i'm sure they don't really want to have it back once you,ve had it. Just a thought.....

    Ah crap. didnt see that!

They told me because they didnt have me registered for iphone4 it would be a month or two before i could get one.

I think i will ring them up now, to see if they can cancel it now.

I will also give them the info there to see if they can match it. How long have you been with them, and how long is left on your contract?

    Thanks.
