Phoned three there and asked about the desire. I have 8 months left in my 18 month contract and was told I cant get any free upgrade til October(4 months from end). So it seems three are allowing 18 month contract users upgrades 4 months from the end.

Just spent half hour on the phone to CS. they rang me today about my upgrade as my contract ends on 30th july. so he started by checking my usage.
current contact is videotalk 750, so 750 x net mins and unlimited txt. he started off saying you use around 500 txt as month and the most mind you have used in the past 12 months is 80mins. so he asked how much i wanted to spend a month and what i wanted. my request was the internet texter 300 tariff. he then asked what kind of phone i want. i explained that i am looking for either the HTC desire or the X10 (i know its only got 1.6 atm but 2.1 in september!) he then went thought loads of rubbish deals saying he can do me the X10 on a 24month contract for £29 p/m and i would get 100mins unlimited txt and internet. i said that was pants as a new customer can go online and pay £30p/m and get 500mins unlimited txt and internet!! i then directed him to the mobiles.co.uk deal on the x10 thru orange which is free x10 300mins unlimited txt push email and 500mb internet for £25 p/m on 24month contract and 1st 12months half price!! he just said that a great deal.
he then explained that because i am not in the last 30 days so not all the offers are available. but he did say i can have for £35p/m i can have the iphone 3gs 16gb!! i laughed at him and said you must be joking!! so the finaly result was he recorded the mobiles.co.uk deal and is emailing it to his manager now!! because it is such a good deal and he wants to arrange something better for me on the 30th june when he will ring me back. so now have to wait a while but i know what i will agree to.
The deal will be at most £25p/m with 300mins unlimited txt and internet on an 18month contact! as i xplained to him in the last 18 months i have gone through 3 high end phones and really keeps a phone for more than a yr?? definatly dont want the same thing in 2 yrs! your mates will just laugh at you!

£16 per month (£14 loyality discount)

I want a desire and i'm in the last 30 days. they have offered

stay with current contract £240 upfront cost and possilbe internet for free (got cut off and haven't got offered that again) 18month contract

or

£25 per mnth
500 mins or text
unltd internet
blah blah blah
24month contract

I want a lower upfront cost or more mins and text. what can I do???

its driving me crazy

I'm in the exact situation, Direct VTT1000 (15/month) wanting to upgrade to a Desire with unlimited internet.

So far, I've also been offered the same deal: GBP25/month Internet Texter 500 since last week.

I've been ignoring their calls for now as i've been scouring the internet for a better deal. To my dismay, i've failed to find anything better

TBH I'm disappointed by the upgrade offer, increasing costs is the last thing i want to do and now that contracts are 24 months, it makes the decision harder.

I'm thining of maybe trying to continue my current tariff and then possibly try to buy the Desire from Three direct, then bolt on the internet addon for a fiver i'm unsure if this is even an option

Anyone getting any success in getting a good Desire deal recently? I want to avoid the resellers as most people know that the redemption's are hit and miss at the best of times.

I've found what I think is a good deal via buymobilephones.net which i've posted elsewhere.

plus 7 month 1/2 price line rental by redemption (which if you get makes it very attractive)

Three have point blank refused to match as (1) it a reseller, (2) they can't access the website to comfirm the deal, (3) they give more as you get free voicemail picture mails, skype and messenger (I couldn't care less about those features (4) the deal isn't real

you may be able to keep your current plan and get unltd internet for free (i can) but the upfront cost is too high in my opinion

I'm just off the phone from a 3 Ringback about my upgrade,

I went the route of continuing my current tariff:
VTT1000
750 xmins
150 text
50 mms
50 video calls
£5 download

I asked about buying a desire from Three and was told that the cost was £140,

Three also threw in the unlimited bolt on for free ( i didn't even get round to asking about it.. it was offered to me without me asking)

Good:
Only costs me £15/month
contract is only 18 months
+additional internet bolt on for free

Bad:
still works out to be £25/month lol

I know its not the best offer but it seems almost impossible to get what some of the guys managed to get.

On a final note, i spoke to a female called Maria from retentions, she did her job well; I've never had a problem with the Indian call centres, so here's a shout out to the guys and gals out there that do their job well.

Phone will be delivered on Thursday so i'll be joining the Android family soon

edit: looks like i did the maths wrong, it works out to be £22.80

My contract with Three is up for renewel I've trawled through this thread looking for the cheapest deal they've offered. But it seems to be filled with people trying to get the most super-duper phone. I'm more interested in getting any phone with 500 mins at the cheapest price.

Can anyone let me know the cheapest deal they've got from 3, I'm not interested in your iPhones, Desires, X10s etc.

Any help appreciated

you should call up 3 and talk to their upgrade team during your last month, you should get a good offer if the handset isnt important to you.

Don't accept their first offer and take your time to think about it, usually you can haggle a better deal.

You could even keep your existing phone and reduce the cost your current tariff/or get more for your money by upgrading as they'll throw in some loyalty discount.

Thats based on my previous contracts that ive had with 3... i've heard some horror stories tho about rubbish upgrade deals.

Just upgraded on 3, I was previously on the 500 mix and match glitch for 10gbp, added the E63 staying on same price plan with 500mb interne6t(I don;t need a really techie phone and this ticks the boxes) for same price. Very pleased all things considered.
