Thats interesting as I was told that they could do a deal on the Desire even though they had no stock as they would just switch it over when they next batch arrived.

Hopefully the supply issue will sort itself out soon then at least the message will be consistent.

I really dont mind calling up their customer services for non retentions stuff but if they can only offer you new customers deals then why not say so instead of lying to your face. At least the stores are honest.

Classic Three. They rang me back today to get authorisation to process the upgrade. I tried to haggle a bit and mentioned a previous poster's iPhone deal - the 24months at £10/month. He was very interested in when this deal had been offered, since apparently it was a Christmas offer and that there are no other iPhone deals available other than the one he offered me.

I still thought I was getting a decent deal (though I'd have preferred a Desire) and gave the delivery address et.c. I then asked for a final run-through of what I was getting and paying for, and he said "all for £35/month".

Typical Three. I'd blame the Indian accent, but yesterday when the deal was offered, I said £25/month back to him a few times and he agreed - he even went into detail as to how the deal was made up of normal line rental + video minutes which will be credited back to the account since the iPhone doesn't support video calls.

An old-fashioned switcheroo. I told him I wouldn't pay that much and his tone quickly changed and without prompting he went into the PAC code process. Not very pleased that they tried to trick me and that I've now wasted over an hour on the phone with them.

    My advice - watch out.

hmmm - worrying. I had a missed call this evening and I think it was the number that originally called me to offer me a new contract (prior to me speaking to retentions). I hope they're not gonna try and wriggle out of this as I'll go off it!

I'll keep ya's posted. Good luck to yourself James, sorry your deal didn't quite work out as they stated.

Hmm, think I'm going to cancel the "upgrade" organised yesterday and request my PAC. Considering I know a few folks on 3 who have been offered (and received!) <=£20 Desire deals - like the deal I was offered that they claimed they had no record of - I'm not happy. Vodaphone work out a bit more expensive, but at least they're prepared to make an offer!
  • I was hoping to stay with 3 because in Northern Ireland they have the best 3g network by a mile but wanted either a Desire or Legend, and I wanted an 18 month contract.

They were allegedly out of stock of the Desire and only VF do the Legend.

So I phoned up to cancel my contract and get my PAC code, and all they offered me was the X10 at 35 a month for 24 months.

The retention team that is talked about - do they call you? How long after you cancel/ask for a PAC?

I have been tempted by a 12 month deal I saw with VF for the Legend but will probably wait till closer to my 3 termination date to use the PAC code, espescially as the good deals I saw on dialaphone for the Desire on Orange have all been pulled.
