I've just cancelled my contract with 3...was this the wrong thing to do? They gave me the pac code and offered me a Samsung Tocco Ultra which they said was a very good deal for £15 a month or £20 with free internet. Have I done wrong and is this a good phone? I'm on the 300 mixture of text/minutes for £15 per month.0

its a very poor deal0 -
Just called 3 to request my PAC code after spending 30 minutes on the phone discussing upgrades. Intially, they wouldn't offer me the new HTC Desire but after asking for my PAC code I was put through to a really nice lady who asked what deals I'd been offered with other providers. After a quick chat she offered £15 per month, 18 month, 300 minutes/txt, unlimited internet and a HTC Desire for free when they're back in stock. This is exactly the kind of deal I'm after, so I'll wait a couple of days and see what happens
My contract up on 7th May.... I have a Nokia 6500 slide & as my handset was faulty I got a new one yesterday...
I'm gonna try for this too! GREAT deal!0 -
just off the phone with mumbai or wherever their indian call centre is.
after a lot of jibber jabber where they offered my the nokia 5230 then the e63, the final offer is the new samsung galaxy portal. all of the deals are to keep my existing 300 min + 200 texts + unlimited internet for 20 quid discounted to a tenner.
they did offer the htc hero but it would cost me 100 quid for the handset which i dont think i will bother with.
I am quite tempted to take them up on the samsung as it looks pretty nice, so I am off to a 3 shop to play around with it and to see also if they can give me a better deal2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
3 shops are not able to do deals. I have asked them this before and they can only sell you what is on offer to 'new customers'. You also have to be within the last 30 days of your contract to upgrade in store.0

well after a 45min conversation I managed to get the following deal:
iphone 3Gs 16GB
24 months
300 mins
150 txts
unlimited internet
25 pic msgs
25 video msgs (though iphone don't do video calls)
£99 upfront for phone
£10 per month contract.
Not a bad deal as what they originally offered was 500 mins unlimited txts & interent at £43 a month (no upfront costs) that's on 18 months contract. Works out I'm saving a decent wedge in comparison.
I really wanted an iphone, and whilst I know the new one is due to come out very soon I don't mind being a version behind - put up with my rubbish nokia long enough.
There are deals to be had. The mins and txts are my current usage so I know I can manage, and I can buy some bolt ons if I require more.
Just thought I'd share with the gang!"The future needs a big kiss"0 -

well, the store i was in offered me virtually the same deal except - the hero would cost 50 quid or the galaxy for free and internet would be 2.50 a month ( both subject to a 5 pound handling fee - a bit strange when i was going to get store stock ! maybe they are taking lessons from ryanair? )
so you can get deals at the store.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
My contract was running out so rang them and spoke to Upgrades. I said I wanted the Desire phone, but was told that Three don't carry it. I then said and iPhone and was told the same. After telling him I could see the Three website in front of me advertising the Desire to new customers he told me I was wrong. I then asked to be put through to the cancellations department.
Instead, I got through to the magical "Options Department". There is no direct number for these lot (either that or they're not willing to give it out) but if you get through to them, they seem to be higher-up the food chain and have a certain amount of discretion with the deals they can offer you. After nearly five contracts it's always been the Options Department who've offered me the great deal to convince me to stay.
Anyway, I was again told that Three couldn't offer me the Desire. Apparently they only offer these to "certain customers" - presumably that means new customers or big spenders.
I did however get offered an iPhone 3GS with the following:
£49 Handset Charge
300xnet minutes
3000texts
1gb internet
video minutes (which wont work)
18months at £25/month.
I've had a look around and that seems to be a decent deal, though I would have preferred a Desire - especially since it seems a new iPhone is round the corner anyway.
Any thoughts?0
