The phone I have (k660i) might be old but its fine for what I use it for. I am beginning to miss the lack of Internet and don't want to pay for it so dropping off the end of the contract to PAYG is appealing as its cheaper and you get the free internet allowance.
Sounds like PAYG is definitely the best option for you. You could always buy a new phone later if you decide to, but stick with the k660i for now.
I emailed Three to say I wanted to move to PAYG and they called me back to say that I need to call or email again one month before the end of my contract (mid-March). Seems a bit ridiculous, but so be it I will call exactly one month before my contact expires. No doubt it will be rather a haggle as they try to persuade me to take a new contract, so I might email and tell them to confirm the switch to PAYG in writing but not to call me to negotiate a contract.0 -
I was on m/m 500, plus 2000 landline minutes, 300 3-3 calls, video calling & internet for £25/month. My handset (HTC tytn) is in good order so I ditched the unwanted & unused video minutes and made it clear that I was happy to stay on a 30 day rolling contract at £16/month. Retentions offered me the 500 m/m, 2000 landline, 300 3-3 calls & internet for £10/month. Then they gave me a new handset (SE T715, low end, don't want it) as well. On a 12 month contract. I'm happy.0

My contract ends in 6 weeks, so I thought I would phone to ask about moving to PAYG. I got a speech about what a valuable customer I am and because of that they can offer me a much better deal, then he tried to sell me a SIM only £15 which any customer can get. I asked about the Nokia E63 on the £10 texter package (75 minutes, unlimited texts) and he would not let me have it - saying I might get it if I ring nearer the end of my contract. So as an existing customer I am not allowed a deal that is on the front page of their website which anyone can have! So be it, but don't call me a "valued customer" then.0

That would be a good cue to take the PAC and go. Trying to soak existing customers and try to profiteer from their loyalty is not acceptable in MoneySavingland0 -
Just been offered an iphone 3gs 16gb on a 24 month deal when I got through to retentions with a £99 handset charge. Told me that iphone not available to everyone but only "premium customers"!0

just to continue on my current price plan (750 mins, 2000 landline mins, 150 texts, bb internet&email, 50 video mins, 50 picture messages, £5 of downloads) - £32 pcm [the 2000 landline mins and £8 of discount are due to loyalty so usually would be £40].
Been with 3 since 2004 (i think)0 -
Just coming up to 18month contract completion so spoke with 3 CS, not a lot doing so went with a sim 15 deal. I am a light user but do use make use of the internet and e-mail quite often . I was originally on mix match 300 plus internet max paying £20. My main aim come the end of the contract was to reduce my monthly tarrif maybe to £15 max. I decided to cancel the sim 15 deal and try for another upgrade so after numerous calls and false offers by three , they offerred me internet max as a freebie for the duration of upgrade. So finally struck a deal on Nokia E63 mix match 300 for just over £11a month.
I had to persevere (sp?) with them, and I was on the brink of leaving and maybe going back to O2 or to one of the virgin £10 deals.
I must say one 3 CS guy was very helpful and rang me when he said he would but the other CS peple went through the same questions over again which was very frustrating.0
